Breaking Rules

Valerie wasn't making any sense to Caroline and Jade.

"She said, if I didn't make him pay…" Valerie stood in front of Caroline, "She will lock me up again! She did it because he said so. She always does…"

Valerie fainted.

"Who is she talking about?" Caroline turned to Jade, bewildered.

"Lillian Salvatore. Julian." Jade told her, "Julian wanted revenge from the Salvatore brothers, so he forced Lillian to take them apart."

"WHAT?"

"Lillian was so scared of Julian that she drove a literal wedge between her sons." Jade explained. "They hid me from him in the prison world for almost a hundred years."

Caroline felt bad for Valerie. This was enough to make someone crazy.

"Then?" She asked. "Lillian and Julian…are dead."

She looked at Jade.

"Aren't they?" She wasn't certain.

"Yes." Jade said firmly. "But, she keeps….she's hallucinating."

"Oh…."

"Stefan Salvatore won't let her near him." Jade said, "He won't even see me."

"What did Lillian make her do to him?"

"Spelled him."

"SPELLED HIM?" Caroline yelled.

"His ripper side has been made intact in his human form."

That explained a lot. That explained his behavior with the woman on the streets the other day.

"Okay. okay…" Caroline told her. "I will get you and yoru mother to Stefan so she can break the spell."

"You will?"

"I will." She nodded as she walked out of the room.

"But, how?"

"Don't know yet." She said, without turning back, "But, outside their building tomorrow morning."

The next day, Caroline returned to Stefan Salvatore's house when she knew that James was at school.

"Why do you keep coming back?" Stefan shook his head, angrily. "Do you like it when you are insulted or do you hope for our marriage?"

"Oh, no….I don't care about the wedding." She told him and her eyes said she meant it. "But, I had a pact with my best friend years ago….I know you don't honor commitments. But, the Stefan I know, always does."

"You know that you can't come in." Stefan said. "So, I am just going to…go inside."

"No, Stefan. But I think I just might give it atry." She stepped inside. "Because, I can."

"But, but…I…how?" Stefan was stumped. "How did you…?"

She was glad she had thought of the owner and 'persuaded' him to put the place in her name for a few days.

"I bought the place." She smiled. "Come on in! Valerie!"

Valerie Tulle came inside the room.

"What are you doing here?" Stefan snapped.

"Nothing." She shook her head. "I just came for her."

"For who?" Caroline turned around.

"You." Valerie Tulle raised her hand and Caroline felt a splitting headache.

"What are you doing?" Caroline screamed as fell on her knees. She held her head in her hands.

"Just business, Caroline." Valerie shook her head, "Nothing personal."

Caroline Forbes saw Stefan looking a little horrified before she blacked out.

Caroline Forbes woke up to a locked room. She was chained and vervained. Her head was heavy and drowsy.

"I…."

She caught a glimpse of Valerie for a second before she blacked out again. When she regained consciousness she had no idea how much time had passed. She felt very weak.

"Here….." She heard Jade.

Jade offered her her wrist. Caroline shook her head. Caroline Forbes wouldn't even dream of drinking from a child. Even though Jade was a lot older than herself….she was still a child forced into that horriffic world with her mother. She had never seen anything at all.

"Oh, Ms. Forbes." She remembered not to call her Mrs. Salvatore. "Don't be a child."

Caroline wanted to laugh but it hurt. She realized that it was the same thing she had said to her father years ago.

Jade pushed her wrist into her mouth. She took it in.

"Thank you." Caroline felt that her five senses were returned to her.

She looked around the room.

"Anything for family." Jade smiled.

"Family…" Caroline murmured.

"Don't tell my mom." Jade said quickly.

"Of course."

Jade was just about to untie her ropes.

"Stop it! Step right away, Jade!" Valerie shouted at her.

Jade looked scared and took a step back.

"Why are you doing this?" Caroline asked.

"You are a chatty one." Valerie took a chair and sat in front of her. "But now that you are awake…Let's talk."

"Why are you doing this?" She asked.

"Doing what?" Valerie laughed, "Spelling Stefan?"

"Yes, like that one." Caroline said, "Why?"

"The Original witch and I had a deal." Valerie told her. "Her granddaughter's wolfside suppressed for the sake of Esther Mikaelson, for magic from the original line to get through Stefan. So I could have him."

"It didn't work out so good, didn't it?" Caroline laughed.
