The Truth

She brought the blood of the Petrova doppelganger, as they all gathered into Caroline's room, and drank the wine to her health. They all drank the Petrova blood and turned into the immortal creatures Caroline had come to stop them from becoming. She couldn't do anything, because she was in an unconscious state.

It had been two days. The effect of the spell had been drastic. But, Klaus Mikaelson hadn't left the bedside of the love of his life because she wasn't getting better.

All the family got immense power, but she...she was still sick.

"What is wrong with her?" Henrick asked him.

If it had been any other time, he knew that his brother would be enjoying this newly acquired power.

"I don't know." Klaus closed his eyes.

He turned away.

"I don't know...Henrick." He didn't want his brother to see him crying.

Caroline's pulse had lessened more than ever.

"You know what we should do?"

"What?" Klaus asked.

"We should get her fruit from the forest."

"Why?"

"Considering her health." Henrick didn't want to say it. But they all were thinking about it. "No one should go without tasting the fruit that is acquired by endangering your life.."

"Okay." He headed out.

He needed to. It was eating him alive that she might die.

Herick came after him,

"You go find it." He told Henrick. "I need a moment."

Henrick nodded understandingly.

Klaus started to wander in the woods silently. Brooding over the declining state of his wife of just a few weeks.

He suddenly caught someone having a conversation. He tried to focus, and suddenly he could hear the two voices as if he was standing next to them.

"You don't understand Ansel!"

It was his mother.

"I don't understand?" He shouted. "You turned your kids into monsters."

"That is not the point!" Esther wanted what she wanted. Not what was right. "Why isn't Caroline getting better!?"

"Why isn't she?" Ansel asked, curiously. "If she is also what your kids are!"

"How can I know?" She snapped.

"Shouldn't you be worried about Nik?" He asked.

Klaus's ears pricked at his name.

"What about him?"

"Wouldn't he kill someone and turn?" He asked. "Now that he has immense power and a thirst for blood?"

"No." Esther answered, smiling. "I gave him a necklace when he was young, and he promised me that he'd never take it off!"

"So?"

Ansel didn't understand.

"That necklace keeps him weak!"

"What?"

Klaus started to get angry. So, he was a …..

How could she? How could she conceal his identity?> How could she ridicule him? How did she do this to him?

He took a step ahead.

He stopped.

He realized something else. Something that was more important to him than the revelation of parentage.

He understood why she was dying. He finally got it! Why Caroline was sick for no apparent reason!

She was wearing his necklace! He had given it to her the day they got married. He resisted the temptation to run towards his mother and just…..just… kill her! Because, he needed to save the love of his life first.

He'd have all eternity to hurt her.
