I hear Kennedy shout my name, I turn around and see blood coming from her shoulder

I yell her name and run as fast as I can to her but she falls to the ground

"This is detective Halstead we need an ambulance," I say the street name

"C'mon Ken," I say putting pressure on the gunshot wound

I hear sirens coming closer, it came to stop in front of me

"Gunshot to the shoulder passed out about 5 minutes ago," I say as no one else got shot but before Alex went down a rouge shot was fired and we thought it hit the tree

I look to see Chout and his partner

"Pulse strong," he says as they load her onto the truck

I run to the car and I see the little girl crying

"Go Jay we got it," Adam says picking up the little girl

I race to the hospital

"Jay, Jay," I hear Maggie say as I see Kennedy in the trauma room with Will and April hooking her up to the machine

"She's fine they took the bullet out and doing a transfusion," Maggie says as I place my hands on the desk letting out a breath

"You get the guy who shot our girl?" She asks I look up and nod my head

"Listen you be there for her she's a good one,"

"I'm trying my best," I say looking in and seeing Kennedy sitting up talking with Will

I knock and she smiles waving, I wave back and Will smiles

"She's good to go in a few hours, the bullet went through which is good and it hit no major veins or arteries," he says tucking the iPad between his ribs and arm

"Thanks Will," Kennedy smiles as Will was about to walk out

"No problem Ken," he says as another trauma comes in and Maggie calls him

I sit on the chair

" You get him?" She asks looking up from picking at her nails

"He was shot I'm sorry Ken," I say sitting up

"What's going to happen to the little girl?" She asks

"She's most likely gonna go into the system," I say

"Hey Kennedy," I look up to see Natalie walking in

"Hey Natalie," I say sitting up being careful of the small needle currently in my arm which was pushing the medicine into my body and also the one in my hand which was tranfusing the blood

"How you feeling?" She asks placing her hands in her pockets

"Like I've been shot in the shoulder," I laugh "I'm good just waiting for this tranfusing to be done then I'm out but I'll be back tomorrow and back to work," I smile

"Good we miss you here," she says

" Oh I got to go I'll see you tomorrow," she says running out

"So," I say as Jay just sits there

"So," Jay laughs

"How are you?" I ask as I hear the beep saying I'm done and I see Maggie walk in

" I'm good," he says

"Sorry to interrupt but time to discharge you," Maggie says unhooking me from the machines

"It's ok Mag," Jay says looking at me

"Just come to my desk and I'll have you sign some papers," she says placing a bandage into my arm and hand

"Ok," I smile looking at her

"Need help?" Jay asks and I shake my head rolling my sleeve down and standing up

I slip my sweater back on and see the blood stain and the bullet hole

"Shit this was my favorite sweater too," I huff taking it off

"Here," Jay says handing me his leather jacket

"Thank you," I say slipping into the warm jacket

"I'll go get the car while you check out," he says reaching into the jacket pocket and grabbing his keys, I blush and walk up to the desk

"Nice jacket," Maggie smirks placing the clipboard in front of me

"Why thank you," I say in a posh accent pulling the jacket closer to my body and posing

We break out laughing, I sign the papers and hand the clipboard back

"See you tomorrow Maggie," I say as I see Jay pull up

"See you," she shouts as I look back and wave

"Home?" He asks and I nod placing the former white cardigan on my lap and buckle up

"So how was rehab?" He asks keeping his eyes on the busy road ahead of him while he has one hand on the wheel and the other holding mine

"Much helpful," I smile "it was a nice place miss the group," I add as we come to a stop at a red light

"That's good Kennedy," he smiles kissing my hand

"The lights green," I say as someone honks their horn and Jay steps on the gas lightly and we start the drive back to my place again
