Chen's life progressed well after he'd gone back to Republic City.
During the days he spent on the yacht banging Korra, he enjoyed his time to its utmost… until Tenzin decided to be an ass and had taken Korra through the flying bison. For the first time, Chen had been annoyed because she left — it was the opposite of usually. But one couldn't blame Tenzin. The North Pole may not be happy with the Avatar. But on the other side, the Avatar may not be too happy with them. They seemed to be the ones in bad situations. At any rate, Chen preferred to stay away from conflicts and spend time with Asami.
During these days, Chen had noticed that he'd bulked a huge amount of accumulated experience.
He had around 500.000 experience, and he put most of them on the Chi Control. It had caused it to reach the twentieth level
He'd remembered the notification.
[Chi Control up to level 20]
(+perfect Chi control: allow the user to multiply his power and bending power with the amount of his Chi)
[+Associated Skill: Aura Control]
The perfect Chi control, he'd found, allowed him to use any amount of Chi he wanted without limitation. For example, let's say that Chen wanted to make a fire blast. He could put a very small amount of energy, or all of his energy into it. It can cause a very powerful attack. He could also use it to multiply his power and speed, and he could use the amount he wanted. However, the more he increased his strength, the more stamina he lose. Again, that was the perfect Chi control he had.
That had left him with 100.000 exp. He'd decided to put it on the side since he was powerful for any threat now. He would use it if he ever had to. For now, he would enjoy the cookies.
"What are you thinking of?" Asami asked as put her hand on his back. Currently, Chen was in the main hall, looking over the window while thinking he had nothing to do in life other than thinking. Was the slacker life a lie? They tell you that you do nothing; but you keep thinking, which gets in your way of relaxing.
He snapped out of his thoughts, turned to Asami, and smiled. "Well, nothing honestly. I was just wondering if any news from the north came."
"You have to wait. After all, the trip to the north pole will take longer for the soldiers, and will take a longer time for their new chief to be selected. And then, it will take a way longer time for them to decide what to do with the Avatar, and you." Asami said.
Her analyse was in the right spot.
Chen nodded. He sighed in relief. "We can mess more around then."
"Yeah." She stretched her arms up. "By the way, when will Korra come."
"I thought of that too," Chen said. His electrical sense suddenly alerted him, and he said. "I can sense someone coming soon. It can be her."
"No way." Asami turned her head.
The door of the hall was opened. The servant entered, and he bowed slightly. "Lady Asami, your guest is here." He then turned and left.
Korra entered from the door. For the first time, she changed her clothes into something else. She was wearing a shirt and tight pants. Good for her to change her outfit.
"Finally. Guys, I need to hide here for days." She walked toward them. She stopped in front of Chen, and leaned for a kiss, before turning and kissing Asami. She then sat next to them.
"Wanna cookie." Chen offered. Currently, he was holding a bowl of cookies.
"Yes, thanks." Korra crunched a cookie, her blue eyes looking left and right.
"Something happened?" Chen asked.
Whenever Korra asks for a place to hide, the reason is 90% related to Tenzin.
"Yeah," Korra said. "You remember the Harmonic Convergence?"
"Vaatu, Unalaq, you getting tricked to think that I was sealed inside with Vaatu… I can't forget such a thing."
Korra blushed a bit, and she shook her head.
Asami nodded, seeming to remember as well. "By the way, why did Vaatu call you 'the Shark Do Do guy?'"
"I invented a song to torture him," Chen said, feeling quite embarrassed. 'Please, don't ask me to sing it.'
"You, wrote a song to torture an ancient spirit?" Asami put her head on the table and said. "There is no way I'm going to miss it. Sing it for me." Her green eyes shone at Chen.
"Trust me, it tortures me more than anyone." Chen resisted his urge to cringe. He turned to Korra, and he shook his eyelids at her.
"Still, I wanna hear it." Asami put her hand on his shoulder.
"Korra, can you tell us why are you here?" Chen pretended not to hear Asami and turned to Korra, trying to change the topic.
Korra seemed to remember something. She said.
"That can wait. You can sing that song first. I wonder what it was. Even Raava inside of me is wondering what is it."
Korra's chest, for a second, shone in blue light, drawing a symbol of a spirit that looked like Vaatu, except that it was light blue while Vaatu was dark red.
Chen felt a few tears accumulating in his eyes. "I need earplugs before singing it."
-x-X-x-
"That was horrible," Korra said.
Chen's face was cringing while staring in the window's direction again.
"I don't know. I like it." Asami clenched her fist and shook her head a bit. "Baby Shark Do Do. We can sell it to the radio, saying that it can keep the evil spirits away."
Korra looked at Chen. Smugly, she said. "Singing it before sleeping keep the evil spirits away."
She was teasing him, not seeming to believe that it worked on Vaatu.
Asami chuckled.
"Yeah, so funny." Chen rolled his eyes. There was no funny thing about that song. Inmates died because of it. If someone happened to have enough mental strength to resist it, they should try the Pokemon Go song on a loop.
"Anyway. Why do you want to hide here."
"For fun," Korra answered. "And three ways romance."
"And?"
Taking a deep breath, she said. "After the harmonic convergence, something happened. People gained airbending powers. Tenzin's brother was one of them, and my teammate, Mako who became a cop, is getting reports on people turning into airbenders.
"Tenzin wants to take me on a trip around the world to collect the airbenders and restart the lost culture.
"He's so excited, and I can't bother learning how old the status of airbenders are. Tenzin can be so boring. One second, he teaches you, the next, he says, 'oh look, it's a 7000-year-old airbending leaf…'"
She then lowered her head. "Give me a cookie. I don't want to go."
"Then simply don't go."
"His puppy eyes are too strong," Korra replied. "I need you to tell him that you have an important spiritual technique to teach me so that he can leave me."
Asami chuckled. "Using your mouth, that's spiritual enough."
Korra blushed a bit. "That sounds like something nice to teach."
Chen shrugged and leaned backwards, taking a cookie. He then froze, remembering something. Shouldn't someone try to attack Korra after this happened?
A very mystical non-bender, who trained his whole life to become the most advanced Airbender, gains the power to almost kill the Avatar and end her reincarnation cycle. And he almost did it.
Not only that, but he knew how to bend the air out of people's lungs.
He would lead a group of exceptional benders to change the world.
At any rate, Chen should be able to deal with him. 'This isn't Naruto. Wind do shit against lightning.'
'But I need to keep Korra close to protect her. Yet I can't watch over her the whole time. I need to connect Chief Beifong.'
"So, am I staying?" Korra asked.
"Yes, you're." Chen stood up. "I need to go somewhere, stay around."
He then stood up and left the mansion.
'I need to protect Korra. That shouldn't be hard. At the same time, I'll use the police to know if someone would approach her.'
'Now I think it has been a long time since I saw Beifong the last time. It got awkward last time. I wonder if she'll be happy to see me?'
