This is bad, Chen thought. Korra and Asami were here. He couldn't show his cruel side, not in front of Asami anyway. What if he killed Unalaq and said it was by accident? He smirked as he looked in front of him.
His eyes turned red as his Chi was increasing — his Chi consumption increased as well. He entered his Avatar state.
"The Shark Do Do guy," Vaatu said as he turned to Chen. "I've to torture you so you can tell me how I get that shit outside of my head."
"Oh really." Chen walked around, stretching his arms. "I thought you said you lived thousands of lifetimes… yet you can't handle a little song." That Vaatu was pathetic. Baby Shark song was nothing compared to Pokemon Go.
"You made me appreciate the silence your kind ruined," Vaatu said. "We'll correct the world."
Many arms stretched out of Vaatu's body. One of them pointed at Chen. A beam of red energy shot toward him.
It was so fast. Chen crossed his arms and summoned his aura. His energy pushed the energy back and acted as a protective shield.
Meanwhile, Korra wasted no time. She jumped and spun, kicking a fire blast toward Vaatu.
The spirit of the darkness acted as if were annoyed. It has taken a little damage and one of its arms stretched toward Korra. It acted like a whip as it headed to the water-tribe girl.
Chen couldn't allow that to happen. In his Avatar state, Chen noticed that he's limited energy. But it was vast enough for him.
Stretching two fingers and pointing them at Vaatu, he changed the attribute of his energy. Blue sparks of electricity danced around his hand, before turning into a large blue beam. Chen's feet glided back a bit. The lightning he'd just unleashed was so thick and so bright. It was thanks to the boost he'd got.
Vaatu, getting hit by the purest form of yang energy in an Avatar state, stopped. A hole appeared in its middle.
Slowly, it started fixing, and Vaatu shrunk to its half size.
"Now, it's time to finish you up."
Korra's eyes glowed up in white light, entering her Avatar state.
In her state, she would have a connection to the previous avatars, and their experiences and skills.
It meant that she was connected to the first Avatar, the first one to seal Vaatu.
Water and rocks came from everywhere, compressing and circling around Korra. A fire stream danced around her as a tornado appeared beneath her and lifted her.
"Unalaq!" Vaatu yelled.
Unalaq ran forward, water circling around his feet and pushing him flying to the spirit of the dark.
Chen extended his finger at him. He wouldn't allow something like that to happen.
Korra unleashed her attacks toward Vaatu as Chen kicked a black fire stream at Unalaq. It would burn him into ashes. But just as the beam was about to reach Unalaq, Vaatu ignored Korra's attacks and headed to the Unalaq, protecting him from the dark fire. It then entered his body.
Korra hesitated for a second, seeing Vaatu vanishing and her uncle within her attack's reach.
They were fusing. Chen couldn't allow that to happen. Aiming his hand forward, he released a lightning bolt. Unalaq, his eyes glowing in red colour, waved his hand. A wall of water took the lightning bolt and redirected it toward Korra.
Having trained with Chen, the most advanced lightning bender, Korra couldn't be taken down by such a simple attack. Her body glowed up in lightning armour, reflecting the electricity from hurting her.
"Chen… what does this remind you," Korra said.
"Old times," Chen smirked. He knew that Unalaq couldn't stay fused for a long time. The only way for him to fuse permanently with Vaatu is by absorbing energy from the portals. But would he allow him to do that? No.
Just as he expected, Unalaq flew in the air past Korra.
"Not in my watch."
Lightning sparks danced around his body, Chen vanished and appeared in front of the portal. His speed made him look like he was a lightning bolt that teleport.
Unalaq frowned. He extended his hands, and vines appeared from the ground and extended toward Chen. They were enormous. As it seems, they were a part of Vaatu's power, the spirit of the dark, to grow vines from nowhere. As for Unalaq, he used his waterbending to control them.
As he extended his hands, six orbs of black flame appeared around Chen. One could feel their heat from distance. They floated as he controlled them with his mind alone, and they started growing up as an effect of his Avatar state.
Chen span and waved his hands. The orbs shifted their shape, turning into blades. He then made them spin around him, and they cut the vines so easily. Chen then stopped and extended his hands. The black flame blades turned into spikes that went after the flying Unalaq. Red energy appeared around Unalaq as he extended his hands. The energy pushed the flame from touching him. But they were still hot.
Unalaq growled as the dark fire protected him.
But it seemed as if he was in a furnace.
"You remember these. They burned your soul." Chen mocked. He increased the amount of energy he was using. The black flames grew bigger.
"I do." Unalaq persisted.
"I wonder how long can you last, fused with Vaatu," Chen smirked.
Vaatu won't die. Unalaq, however, can't stay fused with a spirit for so long.
This situation was to Chen's advantage.
Unalaq didn't dare to move or dispel his aura. He clenched his teeth and looked left and right. He then looked at Asami.
"Korra…" Chen called.
Korra, seeming to understand him, appeared in front of Asami. The Avatar's eyes glowed up in white colour. She gave Unalaq a challenging glance.
"Your games end here, Unalaq."
"Argh…" Unalaq showed signs of losing power. The aura grew weaker, and the spikes of the black fire pierced his chest.
His body turned black in no time, and the fire swallowed him.
Chen could dispel it and give Unalaq a chance to live.
But he didn't.
He preferred to pretend to kill him by accident.
Two seconds later, the fire vanished. Unalaq's body fell. Only a coal-black body fell, red steam rising from it.
Chen's eyes turned back to normal.
He started panting.
The black flame, his hottest and most destructive weapon, uses a lot of energy.
Chen had always used them in small amounts.
But since he'd Chi from that dragon, he didn't consider the consumption rate.
At any rate, it is worth it. As he looked up, he saw Vaatu.
He was so small now, around a half meter in length.
The spirit of darkness had lost a great amount of its power.
"Korra. Seal him." Chen said, falling on his back. "I'm taking this out."
He'd no energy left.
Unlike the light and dark spirits that were infinite by default, and thus had infinite energy, Chen's spirit had a limited amount.

"Leave that to me." Korra smiled as she looked at Vaatu. Fire, rocks, water, and air surrounded Vaatu and trapped him. Korra controlled all of the elements to surround Vaatu in a sphere. She pushed her hands forward. Vaatu entered
"Hope you enjoyed using my energy." A familiar sound echoed in Chen's ears.
It was the ancient dragon, whom Chen had sealed inside of his Chi sea.
"Because now that you're exhausted, you no longer have enough power to keep me in." The dragon said. "If you were wiser, you would haven't used that much. But I guess you should be proud to use me like that. Time for my dinner."
Chen felt his Chi getting unstable. The spirit that was inside of him was trying to possess him and take him out. It felt like a conscious Chi.
Chen found no choice. He extended his hand and focused on the external Chi.
He decided to cut it in half. One big half and the other is small. The conscious energy half was controlled by his hand. Chen then exhaled and pushed that energy to the sky.
The energy reached a high point in the clouds, before turning into a large mountain-sized dragon. Not exactly a mountain-sized one now…
Chen started feeling his energy being replenished. Since he'd managed to stop the spirit from possessing him, he took a part of its energy.
The unconscious energy of the dragon, which stayed in his body, was absorbed by his energy.
Chen opened his system quickly and saw how much Chi he has.
It was 200.000 points. That was too much, and he got it back.
On the other hand, Chen still had his Avatar state. Except that he won't be able to use it for a long time. Well, he could always use it to strengthen himself or increase his fire resistance.
As for now, Chen was still exhausted.
"You took a part of my energy. Now, I'm eating it back." A mighty voice echoed between the clouds.
He turned his head. Korra had already sealed Vaatu. She then looked at the sky, along with him.
"Chen… that's the spirit that made you its Avatar," Asami said, looking up. "Maybe you should apology if you did something bad to it."
"Honey… don't worry." Chen looked up. The large dragon was descending.
Korra, who could barely deal with a small spirit in her Avatar state, seemed to stare in awe at how would she fight against such a large figure.
Chen sighed.
"Why are you worried!?" Korra screamed as she stared at the lying Chen.
There was one reason Chen wasn't worried. That black flame had raised the temperature of the atmosphere earlier. The sky darkened, and clouds filled it. Lighting rumbled.
"There is a move that I haven't taught you to." Chen pointed his hand to the sky. "Listen Dragon. I can kill you… but since you helped me, I will give you a chance."
"Ho ho. Your pitiful cries for mercy couldn't be more amusing."
"I'll give you a little warning," Chen said. "Fall from heaven."
His hand glowing up in positive energy, Chen aimed at the dragon.
All of the lightning gathered at one point in the clouds, before falling on the dragon.
The dragon raised its head and growled in pain. Smoke raised from its body, and it lowered its body. It then started exhaling, barely able to move. Its body shrunk to half.
Chen had to admire its physical power.
He then said. "How about I release more on you?"
"Since you are amusing." The dragon said in a heavy voice. "I'll let you off, as no one entertained me as you had."
It then turned. That dragon was very prideful to admit defeat. However, its pride was a fake one. It would never fight to the death.
As it went away, moving very slowly and seeming injured.
Chen put his hand on his chest and sighed in relief.
"Good thing he went away. I could only use that attack once…" he then turned to Korra, who was opening her eyes widely and said. "You should seal one of the portals right now because Vaatu's seal will break if you don't do it."
"Oh, right." Korra quickly turned to the portal.
Asami, on the other hand, was standing above him. She raised one eyebrow at him. Chen had left her last night… or a few nights since he'd been trapped in the fog. She must be angry at him since he'd gone behind her back.
He smiled at her. "Hey…"
"Gotta something to say to me?" Asami asked, sitting on her knees.
"I love you," Chen said, smiling a bit.
Asami, faking a few coughs, blushed. She put her hands on his head and put it on her lap.
"Later, we'll have a serious talk about you moving behind my back." She said calmly as she patted his forehead. "Now, rest well."
"Can't I compensate?" Chen extended his tongue to her. He moved it up and down, before circling it.
Asami's stiff expression changed to a chuckle.
"We'll come to a deal."
"I may not be satisfied."
"I will try harder. How about that?"
"I'll think of something… kinky," Asami smirked.
Korra, who just closed a portal, turned to Asami and Chen. Her expression made it hard to tell how she felt as she turned her face away from them. One could only see her clenching her fists tightly.
