Nie Shaoqing and Deming left the empress dowager's palace minutes later. Unlike when they arrived, they left without a guide.

The Friendly smile slipped off Nie Shaoqing's face as soon as he walked through the red gates of the Empress dowager's palace.

Deming pressed his lips together on seeing Nie Shaoqing's ugly expression.

He had no idea what transpired between his master and the Empress since he hadn't been allowed into the room.

However, it did not seem to be anything good. Which wasn't surprising considering the history between the two.

He pursed his lips and looked ahead, he gasped when his gaze fell on the old man a short distance away from them.

"Young master, look, Grand chancellor Zhao is walking towards us", Deming muttered below his breath.

Grand Chancellor Zhao had quite a reputation. He was the second most powerful man after the Emperor.
