Crossing the barriers

I reached the port just as the sea boat was about to leave. The group of six along with those two individuals who got separated from the train station and one of the people who were responsible to bring goods back to Wega, nine of them were already present and I was the last to be there.

They waited for me for five minutes so when I reached them, they hurried me to climb on. Having seated one of the members asked "Eva why are you late? you were never late before. Is it because you had a date today or your other half was here nearby?"

I-" Yeah meeting my old love"

"Old love?"

One of the members replied with the answer to it. "She went to see her adoptive grandpa, so old and she loves him dearly, so old love."

I myself didn't know who the person she was meeting was as it turns out to be her adoptive grandparent. Thanks to someone replying.

The same member, who answered was trying to have a secret conversation with me then I suddenly began to cough, sneeze, and turned my face red. One of them handed me water and asked what happened to me.

"I think I am having a common cold and my throat itches as it's difficult for me to speak." I acted to speak with difficulty.

"Then take care and don't speak." It was not that I am sick but I am acting as I have.

Oh yeah! I didn't say about the part that they called me Eva. Do you remember I was wearing a synthetic mask? Wearing that mask my face looked like Eva's. Our age, height, and body size were similar.

I had my wig and dressed up as Eva. No one noticed I was the doppelganger of Eva. I used the voice changer to have my voice sound like hers. We had some similarities but not completely as we were totally different in other aspects than our physical appearance and body size.

Even to not have a difference in the eyes, I wore contact lenses. It was not only to conceal my coldness or recognition but there was a sort of mini camera and a technical device attached that acted as a computer.

Having the same physical appearance I had no choice other than that, so I replaced her. Oh, I didn't only replace her, I kidnapped and turned her comatose. Even my two helpers don't know that. Maybe they have doubts but are not sure. So she became my first and now only choice to enter Wega.

So during this period in Wega, I have to act like Eva, and to avoid talking I acted like I had a cold.

As Wega was directly only 2 km away from the port but they use a different route and the entrance was on the opposite side facing the ocean, not Weery City. It took about half an hour to reach there as the transportation was loaded with the goods and its speed decreased by the weight.

Standing on the land of Wega I had just crossed one barrier and a lot more will come soon. I have to be alert and use my intelligent mind to not raise any suspicion.

As I didn't want to walk with the group exposing myself, I walked slowly and was at last. Everyone showed their IDs, scanned their logo on their jacket and so did I.

I had some instrument which wasn't under Eva's rights to carry inside Wega, in my bag pack. As I was using the jammer with signal blocking nothing could be found. ( As per your position and power you have rights and choices about what to carry in Wega). Luckily they didn't ask me to open my bag and only scanned it.

Next was my voice tester. As I had acted as if I had a cold I had to do the other test in exchange for it. It was to find some sort of code only known by the member. It was a piece of cake for me.

Then fingerprint and eye scanner and so on. All of the needed data of the members and authorized military were imprinted along with the mainframe computer. Only the last two tests were left, acting as Eva's substitute, I wasn't feeling tense but one thing was giving me a headache.

I have my data on the mainframe computer so I am an authorized person but I can't risk being exposed as Biva. I have to think of some other way.

So this time I mixed in the group and stayed in the middle of the line. As the test was going on first my fingerprints were checked and the voice sounded.

'Matched!! Welcome to Wega...iva..'

I messed up the voice of the computer using a jammer and it sounded as iva with the B being silent. Phew...One last left to complete the test.

This time I stayed a bit far from the middle towards the back. The last test was the eye scanning which was about to begin. Everyone's iris differs. The computer connected to my contact lens was activating.

I needed some time so I signaled other members behind me to move forward as I couldn't speak. I went to the medical room and asked for some tissue paper and went back to the test.

At this moment my computer was operating at a hundred percent to change the outer appearance of the iris to Eva's. As the eye scanning ended I passed the barriers and was eligible to enter.

As I crossed the highly secured level and stepped into the land of Wega, I breathed calmly. If someone else were trying to breach the security they wouldn't pass the level except first but for me, I have my data on the mainframe computer connected within Wega, and other tests were so easy-peasy for me.

Finally, all my obstacles are over without exposing my identity. And here I come, Wega!!

*****

Entering Wega I felt indifference for Wega within me. It was a place where the strong stood at the top and the weak were crushed. Weak not in the sense that one wasn't capable of entering Wega but compared to the members inside.

It was a place where the law of survival of the fittest existed and not only here the law existed in the whole world as some tried to hide and cover it with a layer of attraction, reasons, and façade. No one was a friend here nor the enemy.

This was the place I had stayed before, here in this brutal land for two and half years after I moved out from my previous stay at the monastery.

It was never a home for me nor did any member feel so, but for me, was a place for shelter within one of the dark times of my life. As the monastery taught me the bright and good side of the world, Wega taught me the dark and evil parts.

Wega didn't disgust me as it had played a role in who I am now, good, badass, or worse. It is part of my life and I accepted it.

The MC has a history with Wega which will be discussed in next chapter.
