 PHILEMON ALFONSO

CHAPTER 96:  PHILEMON ALFONSO

Saturday, 25 October 1192 AD

-  Jerusalem, Church of the Holy Sepulchre

Late evening, the sun had already disappeared over the city walls sinking below the horizon. It was becoming dark, only the light from the torches burning with a few stars gave off light. A chilly wind was blowing over, and it affected all who were touched by it.

Brother Philemon stood in the courtyard of the church as he waited for Abbot Jeromy to come out of the church.

Being a Saturday, he was finalizing the preparations for the Sunday Mass which was just a few hours away. The Abbot had asked him to wait for him and they go back to the monastery together. As a dutiful servant of the church, he waited.

Looking at the stars twinkling in the skies. It reminded him of his childhood in the town of Seville which is found in the kingdom of Spain.
