Lurking in the shadows

The sky had started clearing up now. The dark clouds had dissipated, and the smog cover looked more like a thin veil than a suffocating blanket. Though it remained blindingly dark on the surface, Kevin could faintly make out the full moon hiding behind the smoky red curtain.

As Kevin walked back to Guzman, the old Scout looked perplexed by the sudden change in his appearance. "What happened to you? I thought you were only getting a cooling system installed."

"I got my exoskeleton modified. I can use the supervisor android's weapons now."

"So, you can just upgrade your system with machine parts at will?"

"Yep, the ECUI is a dynamic and highly adaptable system. It can be upgraded whenever the necessary components are available."
