What Happened?

The following morning as Ava prepared to leave for school, she heard a knock on Maddie's front door. She paused what she was doing and when to check who was at the door.

When she opened the door she saw no one there but there was a hamper basket placed in front of the door. Ava looked around searching for the person who must have placed it there. But she didn't see anyone.

Confused and wondering who must have the hamper basket at the door, Ava picked up it and went back inside with it.

"Who was that?" Maddie asked, a towel wrapped around her wet hair as she just finished taking a shower and a bathrobe loosely tied around her waist.

"Is that a gift hamper?" Maddie asked as she walked closer to Ava eying the basket in Ava's hand.

"I think it is," Ava replied as she placed the basket on the coffee table and started searching the basket for any note to indicate who sent it, but there was none.
