The smoke immediately filled Gus' lungs, causing him to cough violently as it flooded in. His eyes moved from side to side, desperately seeking any sign of the Nightblade, but he could find none. Even when he turned around to check the area that had been behind his back, or when he squinted his eyes to try and deal with the smoke that clogged up his vision, he could see nothing that suggested the Nightblade Alpha had ever been here in the first place. While the water that filled his eyes as a side effect of the smoke did make his vision blurry, making it even harder to see through the dark smoke, he doubted that it made a difference to whether or not he would find the Nightblade.
