Derek took me to the principal's office. "I have been waiting to meet you, Aven." Why does he know my name? I did not even tell Derek my name. He probably already knew it since he has been stalking me. The thought of being watched for so long and not knowing sent shivers down my spine. "I would say it's nice to meet you but considering I didn't even know about your existence until an hour ago I'll have to pass." He chuckled. At that moment he reminded me of Derek. I focus and examine his features and see that they were like his.
They had the same pepper hair and chiseled body. The only difference was that while Derek had deep sea blue eyes, the principal had eyes as blue as the morning sky. "Are you two related?" I asked looking between them, seeing more similarities each time like how they both had dimples and an infuriating smirk.
"Cousins," Derek replies. I would have placed my bets on brothers, but cousins work. "Back to the topic at hand-" the principal continued. "My name is Triston. I am the principal of this school. Here we teach the supernatural about their races and how to harness the power they wield. As well as how to blend in as a human. Something I am sure you would have no difficulty in." He smiled.
"Being human isn't the problem here. Being whatever I am, is." I threw my hands in the air. How am I supposed to harness my power or learn about my race when I did not know what any of those are?
"I understand this is a lot to take in, especially at such short notice. But no matter what, nothing about what you are will ever change who you are. We are not here to change you we are here to help you control yourself." control what? The powers I did not know I had until five minutes ago? Or the waves of magic that were coming from me a second ago?
"How do you plan on doing that when you don't know what I am?" His confident face twists to one of nervousness. Something I assume is unusual for such a powerful man. "We have some theories as well as some tests we wanted to try."
Test? My face turned stern. Before I had a chance to open my mouth, Triston spoke up. "Nothing harmful. We won't do anything against your will." I gave him a 'seriously?' expression as I nodded my head towards Derek. "Nothing unnecessary." he clarified. "I think our definitions of 'necessary' are completely different."
He gives out a long sigh. "As I said before, we aren't your enemies. We want to help you. Overall, magic comes from emotion. A spark. Something deep within you." I am about tired of this philosophical stuff. "So, what do you plan on doing?"
"I heard you're a singer. We think that if you sing a song that causes deep emotion, you will release some magic and we would take it from there. We would also be testing your physical strength, how long you can hold your breath underwater, flexibility, what evokes a deep reaction from you and what effects it has."
So, they would be an annoyance. Great. "Derek told me I had waves of magic coming off me. If you couldn't get anything from that then I doubt your first test would work."
"Those waves of magic were unclear. If you had a specific thought or intention, we believe we would get better results. It might work better now that you are aware of what you are." wrong. I was not aware of what I was. That was kind of the issue here.
"That entire sentence sounded unsure. How am I supposed to trust you if you do not know what you are doing? Why take me from my home? If my powers aren't activated, then I shouldn't pose a threat."
"You're a special case, Aven. We are trying our best to be cautious and vigilant. With the amount of magic, you were giving off, there would be creatures coming after you."
"How are monsters supposed to get me from a completely different realm?"
"Derek did, didn't he?" fair point. After we discussed a few more things, Triston sent me off to the dorms. Diverse types of creatures had different dormitories, but since I was an 'unknown case' as Triston put it, I would be sleeping in my personal dorm. Something I was more than relieved about. I did not want to room with a freaky creature I knew nothing about.
They said they would start testing me tomorrow. Because of my voice and the type of magic I was giving off, they were leaning towards siren or mermaid. My first test tomorrow would be near a body of water where I would sing. I would have to focus on making the water move without touching it.
It sounded simple enough, so I agreed.
It just occured to me that I never posted this...I created this like a month ago.
