Paul braced his hands on the hotel balcony railing and leaned into them. The view from fifteen stories up did little to calm his nerves, but the breeze was welcome. Only halfway through a grueling New York winter, he was glad for the mild temperatures, brief as their stay in Arizona may be. Daylight was starting to dwindle, the sky turning shades of pink and purple across the horizon.

He wasn't sure when he started believing in the doppelganger thing, or if he even did, but being incapable to shove down the anger and trepidation, he'd thumbed through articles on his phone at lunch. He'd been unable to look at her when he was that worked up. Kerry joking about dying had his gut plummeting and him angrier than he'd ever been in his life.

If there was even a shred of truth to this haunting, they could all be at risk. Kerry most of all.
