Chapter 71 - Integrated

Nicolai and Dylan walked past the ones who were partying. All gave way and bowed respectfully. Nico directly moved closer to the huge bonfire and sat down on the huge log there. Dylan joined his side.

Darius and Killian whispered to themselves and moved to the other log opposite them.

Hunter and Issac were energetic teenagers. They joined the young kids who were playing ball.

Nico had a careful eye on them to make sure they were not bullied. Thankfully the pack kids did not bother them and let them join the game. The two happily ran about.

The younger ones, Elijah, Kiran and Avery settled down by his side.

Nico made sure they were comfortable with being here. The youngest human twin had his eyes set on the buffet table and licked his lips. "Kiran, you can have a bite." He patted his back.

Dylan glanced at them with a smile. "I made sure to set out fresh blood alongside. Please have a great meal."

Elijah looked at him defensively. "I'm not hungry." he ran to the buffet area with his brother and Kiran ate his fill of meat skewers.

Avery scooted closer. "Nico..... do you see that?" he pointed to the fire. "our ancestors used bon fires like this during the full moon festival to call upon the rain. It's said to be auspicious when the traces of the hunt are washed away by the clean rain,"

Dylan looked at him, confused. "Ancestors? I didn't know vampires had traditions like these. It's new information,"

Nicolai snapped his head his way scrutinizing his expression. Dylan looked very serious. He did not have any mocking look in his eyes. "he is half-vampire." he whispered softly

"Oh.." Dylan chuckled. "I didn't know humans had those traditions either. thousand years ago humans were not even aware of our presence they remained ignorant.. I don't think...."'

"he is a half witch,"

Suddenly, the whole place went silent. Everyone's eyes focused on them.

Nico protectively hugged Avery close. "do you guys have a problem?"

Dylan hurriedly corrected the shocked look in his eyes. "n-no we don't have any problem with it. It's just witches are very rare. There have been only ten witches registered around the globe.. It's always a pleasure to be in the company of a witch."

Avery slightly ducked behind Nicolai. "Wolves hate witches."

"Everything will change from our generation. From now on the vampire kind and the witches will never be treated unjustly."

Nico glanced up at Dylan.

"r-really?" Avery shyly pulled away from Nicolai.

"Really. So calm down. Your presence is welcomed in our clan and all around the world,"

Nico softly smiled at the fire. 'This kid really knows his ways with words....'

Avery might seem very chill but this kid was very perceptive. He really analyses people well and if he does not trust them, he will not even talk to them.

Him taking the initiative to chat with Dylan only meant that he had a passing regard for the alpha wolf.

"so... when will the hunt begin?" Avery whispered softly.

"By night 12 am. We will start our hunt." Dylan slightly leaned close. "You remember the bet?"

Nicolai rolled his eyes.

Dylan suddenly had a very bright smirk on his face. "I'm looking forward to our date, my dear mate,"

Nico felt a weird heat rising up to his face. he silently slapped his own cheeks. "Mosquitoes..."

Dylan let out a loud laugh. "I guess this mosquito makes you red all the time,"

Nico glared at him. "Stop acting coy."

"I'm just stating the truth...." Dylan leaned close. "This mosquito can also suck your dry and make you pant like a pregnant wolf,"

"Dylan!" Nico pushed him away.

The others paused their dancing and glanced their way, surprised.

"It's nothing.. It's nothing." Nico awkwardly waved at them.

Even so, he heard subtle sounds of giggles and chuckles going around.

Nico hid his face in his palm. Werewolves had a very good sense of hearing. Their whisper conversation right now could have easily been heard by the distant wolf who was standing there casually. "Annoying..."' he glanced at Dylan.

"Hmm why are you so cute..." he slightly pinched the tip of his nose.

"Okay.. I take it's my time to leave. Good luck Nico." Avery stood up and ran to the buffet, joining Kiran and Elijah.

"W-wait... it's..."

Now it was just the two of them. Dylan had a strange look in his eyes as he glanced his way,

Nico secretly took a look. The bonfire was reflected in his shimmering blue orbs. It looked warm and welcoming. He just did not want to break contact.

Little a little he subconsciously moved close until their noses touched.

Feeling the cold skin rub against his, Nico snap awake.

He swiftly moved back, clearing his throat. "Ahem... how does one win the hunt? I didn't read anything regarding that in that reports you left for me,"

Dylan cleared his throat and remained silent.

Thinking that he had offended him, Nicolai took a look. The alpha king's face was a bright shade of pink even his neck was slightly pink. He was loudly swallowed. Nico's eyes focused on his throat knot.

A wild heat arose in his heart.

A warm hand suddenly enclosed his eyes.

"We are in public.... I don't want to lose my shit here. so... please don't look at me like that,"

Nico pushed his hand away and swallowed wetting his dry throat. "Look like what? I didn't do anything...."

Dylan glanced at him, slightly panting. "You looked like you wanted me to devour you.... it's dangerous Nico."

Nico froze. "I.. I want blood." He shot up and ran to the buffet area.

It really was dangerous being close to him. he did not know which second he would lose his sanity to that man's glowing orbs.
