Almost

The wind blew a little too harshly as our eyes met. Damian was eyeing me intently after I said yes to the request of Lincoln's mother. It's been a couple of minutes since the phone call ended and here we are still, standing right on the veranda under a million stars in the sky.

"Can I ask you something?" He softly muttered, feet taking steps closer to me.

My grip on the phone tightened and I felt like I froze on my spot while watching him get nearer to where I'm standing at. "Sure," I managed to voice out without stuttering.

He then flashed a small smile the moment we were only a couple of feet away. Shifting his direction to stand on my side, Damian rested his elbows on the railings of the veranda. Gaze locked up to the lights of the city from below.

His actions made my eyebrows narrow down in confusion. Turning on my heels, I mimicked his position. My hair danced along with every little howl of the wind.

"What are the chances that you could be mine?"

The question came out of nowhere which almost have me stumbling on my feet. I momentarily turned my head in his direction and saw him still looking at the same thing. His fingers fidgeting sign that he was serious about what he just asked me.

I gulped down. If I'm being honest, I don't know the odds of me liking him or us being together. Instead of answering, I shifted my gaze to where he was focused at.

"I don't know," I replied casually.

"We almost did," Damian claimed.

What he said plastered a sly smile on my face. I can still vaguely remember how I met him in college. How everything went and got treated as a mere part of the history.

"But you're into him already," he chimed out and I can feel his gaze land on my being.

I chuckled. Into him, into Lincoln.

"Almost," I corrected his statement as I turn my head to meet his eyes.

He fainted a laugh then looked at me straight in the eyes. Changing his position to one that got his lower back leaning on the railings, arms crossed above his torso.

"Let me go with you," he said as he tilted his head while looking at me.

I simply shook my head as a no. "We can't be seen together even if we're just friends," I replied as a matter of fact.

"Friends?" Damian then scoffed before moving closer to me.

I thought he just wanted to lessen our distance for better communication but what he did next was not what I'd expected. So suddenly, he wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled my body to his while his free hand got a hold of my cheek.

"I don't want us to be just friends," he softly stated, his thumb stroking my cheek gently. "You know since then I want more than just that," he added.

"And I've told you I can't give you that!" I exclaimed and was about to push him away when he cornered me on the wall not far from us. He keep me pinned still by pressing his body onto me with his hand gripping my waist a bit too tightly making me wince.

"Because of your marriage? You can call it off, Tiffany!" Damian retaliated and his orbs slowly turned dark.

"I want to but I can't," I word out after heaving a deep sigh.

Damian released a breath of annoyance right above my lips as our faces were inches away from touching. I felt his grip on my waist loosen and casually glide down on my hips, rubbing it soothingly as if telling me that he already knew the answer and I need not finish my statement.

"You've always been a good daughter," he said as his other hand now cupped my jaw, fingers fumbling over some strands of my hair before tucking it behind my ear. "But does any of what you've done make you truly happy?"

Damian's question struck me like a lightning. Almost in a flash, the memories from the past 28 years of my life came crashing like a hurricane. From that moment I consistently remained on the top of the rankings to get the best deals for the company's benefit. Those days I always set aside my wants and likes just to attend to my parents' commands.

I may be good but I have no freedom at all to do what I have in mind.

"Does that even matters?" I softly asked with my eyes staring at the ground and Damian was kind enough to lift my chin and made me look at him instead.

"It does matters," he answered, and the next thing I knew our lips were pressed against each other, sharing yet another kiss that I'd been trying to forget for days now.

His lips moved gently, being careful with every move. It was like he was trying to console me with his kisses. The way his plump lips brushed and crashed onto mine was giving me goosebumps and almost have me whining at how great it felt.

Seconds later, I'm already clinging to his nape, my arms wrapped around his neck. Damian's hand now rubbing along my lower back down to my hips as the kiss went intense. I'm pretty sure my lipstick was smudged all over the corners of our lips.

He pulled away for a moment only to scan my face with his hazy eyes before attacking my lips again with hunger. The actions were needy. The hands that are been roaming around my back and sides were clear evidence of how much he's wanting this to happen.

A breathy groan went past through his lips as I unconsciously bite his tongue when he slipped it inside my mouth. Pulling me much closer than how I was to him, I've decided to return the same thing but a loud gasp slapped me back on the reality that we seem to forget.

"Oh, my days..."
