The Power Animal

"Will you stop calling me with my titles!" Elisa said.

"I'm not the one who gave them to you. It's the town people. Even though our town is not that big like cities, you are quite famous worldwide and why wouldn't you be? Your power animal is a really rare one, you're on the top in the list of powerful mages in today's era, plus! you're extremely beautiful" Genevieve stated.

"Will you stop?" Elisa said, feeling embarrassed.

Elisa Shizwell, also known to be the Fire Goddess, the rare beauty of Amrell town. She is a powerful mage who has a rare power animal.

A mage not only has mana in their body but they also have an assigned power animal with which they are born with. A power animal is something which gives the mages the ability to use the power and abilities of the animal they acquire. That animal is a part of them or you can say in other words their strength. Mages are very powerful beings and the only beings who can fight and rebel against werewolves.

A power animal becomes the strength of a mage but at the same time they also bring weakness which are hidden from the world. The power animals include every animal that ever existed even the mythical ones and the mythical ones are uncommon. Then there are the rare ones as well which also lie in the mythical category and Elisa Shizwell also lie in that category.

She is a mage with the second rarest power animal that ever existed after the dragon, which is The Phoenix, the queen of all birds. Her features are enough to describe her power animal itself. Her brown locks that give off golden in the sun, her emerald eyes that look like gems, her soft facial features and a perfect body.

Just like mages, wizards and witches also use magic but since they don't have enough mana in their body to be a mage, they use magic spells instead. And Genevieve belongs to this category. She is a witch. Mages are huge in number compared to wizards or witches. They can be easily counted on fingers which makes them more special and known to the world.

Saint Glasil University is a university which was made in the memory of Saint Glasil, the great mage who fought the werewolves nine hundred years ago and brought peace. The purpose of this university was to educate the students about magic and it's capacities, how and where to use it and how to get it in practice. It was open for everyone, whether it be a mage, a wizard, a witch, vampire or either human.

Amrell was a town where all the beings co-existed without being discriminated against. Even though it was not a big and civilized town, it was peaceful and had the most amazing people residing there.

"By the way, how's your witchcraft going? Planning on using it on your father?" Elisa asked while teasing Genevieve.

"Yeah right. It's going well but one day I'll surely make him disappear by one of the spells." Genevieve said, making Elisa laugh.

"I hope everything's fine tomorrow" Elisa said, making Genevieve frown. "Why this sudden worry?" Genevieve asked.

"I don't know, I feel like something is going to happen. Something bad..." Elisa said. "Don't worry, maybe it's just a hunch" Genevieve said laying on the bed.

"Hm...Maybe" Elisa said.

"*sigh* I just hope everything goes normally and nothing serious happens" Elisa mumbled to herself.

Suddenly they heard some voices from downstairs.

"Looks like they're back! I'll go meet them" Elisa exclaimed before dashing out of the room, leaving Genevieve dumbfounded.

"Mom! Dad! You're back!" Elisa exclaimed, sprinting down the stairs.

"Elisa, my sweet daughter" Mrs. Shizwell said while hugging her precious daughter.

"You are not asleep yet? It's late you know" Mr. Shizwell said, patting Elisa's head.

"Look who's saying? The one who just came home" Elisa said playfully, rolling her eyes, making them laugh.

James Shizwell and Rosella Shizwell are Elisa's parents and as well as each other's business partners. They started a company which became successful and they are now one of the top investors in the whole world.

Since James was a human and Rosella was a witch they had a hard time surviving but their hard work paid off. And after Elisa was born, they decided to move to Amrell town because Elisa was a mage and Amrell was mainly made for all the magical beings to live peacefully.

"Hello Uncle and Aunt, you're back quite late" Genevieve said coming down the stairs.

"Oh, Genevieve? You're here too? Having a sleepover?" Mrs. Shizwell asked as Genevieve nodded.

"Welcome 'Again' Miss Genevieve, I suppose you really don't have good relations with your family that you are found here almost most of the time" Mr. Shizwell said, mocking Genevieve as she stayed silent.

"Dad! How can you say that!" Elisa protested. "What? I told the truth, didn't I?" Mr. Shizwell said, making Elisa more angry.

"Dad, you-"

"You must be tired by now. Go and rest now" Mrs. Shizwell said, cutting off what Elisa was saying. Mr. Shizwell just nodded and left without even budging to look at Genevieve. Mrs. Shizwell went to Genevieve and said,

"I'm really sorry for his behavior. This is also your house, you can come here whenever you want. James is just not in a good mood so he just...".

"It's okay Aunt. I'm used to it" Genevieve replied, whereas Mrs. Shizwell looked at her with pity and hugged her. "I'll be off to bed too since I'm really tired" Mrs. Shizwell said, releasing Genevieve.

"But where were you? What business did you have this late?" Elisa asked.

"Right, the business...We'll talk about it when you return tomorrow" Mrs. Shizwell said, making Elisa confused.

"But-"

"Good night" Mrs. Shizwell didn't let Elisa complete and left, leaving both the girls alone.

Elisa went to Genevieve and asked, "You okay?" to which Genevieve nodded.

"Dude, Why does your dad hate me so much?" Genevieve said while Elisa laughed.

"He doesn't hate you, it's just his relations with your father aren't good so...it's really childish of him so please don't mind him" Elisa said making Genevieve chuckle.

"Come on Elisa, we've been friends for nine years, I should be used to it by now and I am used to it, so don't worry. I don't mind him and also he hasn't said anything that bad to wound my poor heart" Genevieve said while acting dramatically, making Elisa chuckle.

Both the girls returned to the room and gossiped till 2 am before drifting off to their dreamland. Next morning both of them woke up early since they had classes.

"Gennie! Don't you dare touch my green top or else I won't let you live peacefully!!!"

Elisa shouted at Genevieve who was currently going through Elisa's closet to look for an outfit for herself.

"This one?" Genevieve said taking out a full sleeved dark green top.

"Hey!!! Give me that!!!" Elisa yelled, struggling to get her favourite top back from the thief in front of her and after a while at last she succeeded to get it back.

She wore it with brown flared jeans and brown ankle boots, left her beautiful wavy hair down, wore some natural makeup and was ready to go.

On the other hand, Genevieve wore a tucked in white shirt with a black turtleneck over blue skinny jeans and white sneakers. She put her hair into a high bun, finishing the look with light natural makeup.

"A pleated skirt would also look good" Genevieve said looking at Elisa who was wearing her boots. She glanced at her for a second before continuing to wear her boots.

"I'm talking to you" Genevieve said, placing herself beside Elisa.

"You know that I will not." Elisa said.

"Come on. You said you have accepted it as a part of you" Genevieve whined making Elisa sigh.

"I did and I'm not denying it either but I don't want to go around telling people the story behind it all the time and plus I'm not comfortable bringing up that topic" Elisa said getting up.

She was about to leave the room but paused when Genevieve said something.

"It's just a scar..."

Genevieve said while getting up lazily whereas Elisa turned towards her and said,

"A scar that not only has been engraved on my body but also in my heart...A scar that only brings back bad memories of the mistake I made. It's a punishment, A mark that always reminds me of what wrong I did..."

Elisa said with hurt in her eyes as she kept remembering the incident that happened eight years ago. She had a scar on her right foot above the ankle. It was the result of her foolish mistake she made that day.

"Saving someone is not a mistake! And what happened was not your fault! For God sake, stop blaming yourself!" Genevieve said, holding Elisa's shoulder to which Elisa chuckled bitterly.

"But I can not run from the truth or can I?" Elisa said with teary eyes making Genevieve's eyes soften. She hugged her and said,

"What you did was an act of humanity. There was nothing wrong in it and as for him...He didn't die because of you. The circumstances made it look like it, so don't blame yourself, okay?" Genevieve said, rubbing Elisa's back.

Elisa calmed down after a while and broke the hug. Genevieve could sense that Elisa wanted to say something but was hesitating.

"What's wrong? Want to say something?" she asked as Elisa looked at her.

"There is something that I didn't tell you...." Elisa said, making Genevieve frown.

"It's about him," She said, as Genevieve's eyes widened. "What?" she asked.

"He was-"

*Knock Knock*

Elisa was saying but a knock on the door stopped her.

"Lisa? Gennie? Come down and eat breakfast quickly or else you'll get late"

It was Mrs. Williams.

"Yes Aunty! We're coming!" Elisa shouted before dragging Genevieve out of the room.
