Beast in my dreams (2)

Aurora ran as fast as her legs could take her because her life depended on it. To have a beast chasing after her was the scariest thing she ever experienced in her life. She couldn't believe the story Minnie told her of a beast was true. The only thing Aurora couldn't understand now was why did it choose to come after her? She hadn't done anything wrong for it to want her. She had done nothing wrong.

Aurora ran further into the forests but the more she ran, the more it all looked the same. Aurora knew she wouldn't be able to outrun it for much longer and there would only be a short matter of time because it gets her. She had no choice but to keep running even if it meant she was running in circles.

"Aurora," she heard the beast growling at her name.

It sent shivers down her body hearing the beast talk. This was not possible. Things like this only existed in made-up stories to scare children. She didn't want to believe this was real but maybe a nightmare. How could it speak? But more importantly, how was a man able to change into this appearance of a beast? Was he cursed by chance?

How did it know her name? Why did it want her? All of these questions filled her mind as she ran for her life.

Tears fell from her eyes as fear overcame her body. She wanted anyone to show up and save her before she would be killed. If the beast catches up to her, she might not see Regina, Minnie, and the rest of her family members. Aurora wanted them to save her from this monster.

Seconds later she came to a part of the forest which was different from the rest. There was a cliff right in front of her and nowhere to run. She could hear the sound of water smacking against the cliff walls roaring as it went on its way. This was the end with nowhere else to run.

Aurora stopped running, reaching the edge of the cliff. She had two options. Take her chances with the water or be killed by the beasts. Panting for air after running, she turned around to see the beasts had stopped running and stood not too far behind her. Its large body panting just like her. Its terrifying gold eyes pierced into her blue ones.

"W-What do you want, beast?" She had enough courage to ask. Having nowhere else to go, the only thing she could do now was to ask questions knowing it could answer.

"Wolf."

She heard it speak softly but didn't understand the word it said because of how it growled out the words. It needed to calm down and speak to her clearly.

"I am not a beast but a wolf. A werewolf. Call me what I am, Aurora, and not something made up by that foolish old woman."

"Minnie is not foolish! She is kind and takes care of us while you most likely brought me to this place and want to kill me. What do you want from me?" She questioned again. Why her out of everyone in her town?

But what happened next scared her even more. Instead of hearing it speak out loud, she heard the wolf say in her mind, "I'm not the one who is trying to kill you Aurora. I might be the shapeshifter but there are people in your life not showing you who they really are. And yet, you call me a beast without knowing what they've done."

This left Aurora puzzled as believed she needed to be saved from the beast. Who else was trying to kill her? She knew it was implying her family was the one trying to but Aurora didn't believe it. Family should not look to kill their own. None of them had any reason to harm her.

"You're playing with my mind," she said out loud not knowing how it spoke to her in her mind. This wolf was probably lying to her but for what, she didn't know. Why would her own family want to kill her? Why should she believe in a werewolf? She would be crazy to do so.

"They've tricked you Aurora. Telling you stories that I will come to hunt you down. I wouldn't have to if they didn't-"

The sound of rocks slipping beneath her feet caught the wolf's ears before Aurora could even notice. "Get away from there," it growled only to startle Aurora. It quickly ran to catch her but only scratched her hand failing to catch her.

"I will come to save you."

These were the last words Aurora heard from the werewolf as she fell to what she believed would be her awaiting death. The water instantly consumed her body, not giving her the chance to come up and have a chance at breathing air.

Aurora screamed as the water entered her body. Instead of death, she woke back up in her room screaming. She was panicking as though she was drowning, attempting to breathe. Realization hit her that she wasn't drowning when finally noticed her room.

Aurora started to calm down realizing she wasn't in the other place any longer.

"A dream? No." She could still feel the fear like it was all too real. Her body felt exhausted like she was running around.

"I should-oww," she groaned in pain then looked to her hand where the source of her pain was coming from. Spread across her arm was a long bruise as though something scratched her but she knew what did. The werewolf did when it failed to grab her.

Aurora was becoming more freaked out by the second. She watched amazed as the bruise started to heal itself and her skin went back to normal like she was never hurt.

"What is happening?"

Aurora didn't know what to think seeing her hand heal from the bruise. All she knew was that the story of a beast that turned out to be a werewolf was true and it promised to save her.
