Internal Pain

"Let's not make things hard for him any further," Mikhail said slowly, leaning toward the fence outside Bradley's quarters. 

Roth furrowed his brows and shrugged his shoulders. Mikhail hadn't told him about anything because he wasn't sure if Samuel would want to tell him that he had found his real family. Samuel seemed to be avoiding Roth, too, as he hadn't met up with him before his departure. 

Roth seemed translucent. There were things he showed and didn't show, so Mikhail wasn't sure what to say and what not to say. 

"I don't know what's going on." Roth shrugged. "And I want you to explain what my son wants to talk about with General Bradley Hoover." 

"We were late to the camp from our allotted time, Sir," Mikhail replied. "Just that." Hopefully, it was enough of an explanation. 

"And those chains?" Roth furrowed his brows. "An explanation after the punishment? What sort of judgment is it?" He asked sternly as if Mikhail was at fault.
