"We better go," Cyrus repeated. "Are you all right, Katya? Seth?"
She nodded through her grief, as did Seth. They held onto each other while Cyrus asked them to concentrate on their home set points. He wanted to add points for them to concentrate on because he feared that traveling just then might be difficult. This was part of his training.
"Now remember," he began, "think about your present. Think about Dallas in modern times. Feel the electrical pulses around you, the water-the Trinity River is just to our west. Ready? Let's go home."
They felt the familiar tingling as they traveled away from 1963 and the horrors and grief of that moment. But when they arrived, they knew at once that they were not in their home time. Something was wrong. The city was dark, the Dealey Plaza was nowhere in sight, and they were standing a foot deep in water. They spotted two men making their way through the muck.
