Stephanie Smith turned out to be the perfect lawyer, and she wasn't a man, so Cassie wouldn't run the risk of yet another ridiculous attraction she couldn't control. The papers would be served to Greg early next week, and after a year of separation, everything would be finalized. Stephanie respected Cassie's need to keep things as civil as possible and promised to remain subdued unless Greg contested. He wouldn't because he was in love with Sara, or so he thought.
As crazy as it seemed, Cassie hoped Greg legitimately loved Sara, because if Sara inadvertently persuaded him her way, Cassie couldn't imagine how to handle it. She shouldn't go there, but the not knowing was haunting her even though she no longer wanted a life with Greg, a life that imploded just weeks ago when she caught him shagging Sara.
