When Jason's car was finally out of view, I turned back home and wiped the tears from my eyes.

No one should see me in tears, no one should see me being weak. 

Despite our pack being more progressive and accepting compared to others I knew that there were still those that questioned my ability to become the next Alpha.

Wolves from original packs were naturally very traditional, they didn't like things being changed too much. My family may have broken tradition on multiple occasions, but this was one leap that was too big for most.

"Amaya." I jumped at my father's voice as he placed a hand on my shoulder. 

"Sorry dad, it's just. . . odd." I told him as I struggled to find the right words to properly describe what I felt. 

'More like painful.' Ares whimpered in my head.

'Can you still communicate with Hercules?' I asked my wolf. Normally the bond between wolves could stretch further distances than those of their human counterparts.
