Today I was out on a patrol to see if I could do any heroic deeds.
Hero's in C class are required to do one heroic activity a week in order to earn their pay, otherwise they would be fired.
Which is honestly fair enough. I don't think they would want to give people free money for doing nothing but having the status of a hero.
Saitama hasn't been doing anything, but since it's him I am pretty sure he's just waiting for the news to give him something.
Which also probably confirms that he has no idea that we have a quota. I'll just let him figure himself out then.
Genos will tell him if he doesn't figure it out at least.
Right now, I had decided to patrol around City Z, because it's where I live and I don't feel like going that far. So no real noble reason other than doing hero stuff.
I was wandering the streets in my fighting outfit, which is the same thing as my workout outfit.
So a sports bra and tight shorts.
Maybe I should get some sort of hero costume made so that I look like a hero.
Nah, I feel like that's not something that will get me in Class S. All the S Class heroes wear normal clothes.
Well... Puri Puri Prisoner doesn't count because he is either in jail clothes or NOTHING.
Fuckin weirdo.
Oh wait... Watchdog man.
I am not entirely sure if he's human so I am not gonna go into that.
Well, I am gonna make the sports outfit my brand. I hope there won't be any good newcomers with a similar outfit choice.
Maybe I should have a back-up plan...
I'll deal with it when I get to it I suppose.
"Hm?" I looked across the street and my eyes met with someone... familiar.
He was wearing shades so I couldn't tell if he was looking at me, not to mention his...
Silver hair.
My brain reloaded for a second and I got combat ready immediately.
He noticed I was staring at him and about to dash and the man ran away quickly.
"Garou!" I yelled at him as he ran away.
Hearing his name is run speed increased.
I didn't remember him as a coward, but I ran after him nonetheless.
"Why are you running!?" I asked him straight up as we weaved through crowds.
I jumped against walls when I was about to lose him to make sure I kept him in my vision through high ground.
I was gaining ground on him fairly quickly, but he definitely was much faster than I remembered him.
Since I was also much faster that nullified the surprise and gave me more of an impression that he was really impressive.
He was leading me toward a more desolated part of town, being closer to that of the ghost town.
I was gaining on him more and more, just a little more and I would get him.
Well, I thought I would. As he turned a corner he up and vanished.
"The hell?" I looked all around, but I never saw where he went.
I don't know how he managed to escape me in an emptier area easier than the crowded one, but I knew he was in City Z for now at least.
I looked around the area and headed back home after not finding him, a little disgruntled at the fact.
I will properly patrol tomorrow. Assuming I don't magically see Garou again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I went out to patrol again. Yesterday I cut it pretty early, but I'll go all day today.
All day being after lunch until 6:00.
I didn't want to walk around in the city all day, that's boring.
I quickly arrived at the area I wanted to patrol today, that being a more populated area of City Z.
Not the most populated, crime doesn't happen in those places as hero's patrol there all the time.
Speaking of heroes, I had actually seen one around here. It was one of the higher rank C Class heroes, the 5th ranked in Class C, Blue Door. He was quite a skilled hero in that he used an old claymore as a weapon, as well as an airsoft gun. He would usually use the airsoft gun on human criminals, like petty thieves, to slow them enough for him to subdue them hand-to-hand.
(A/N: Don't bother looking him up, I made him up for another oc, though I wouldn't exactly call it an oc, especially if you know p3)
I am quite surprised that he is only ranked 5th, but I also read something about him doing the bare minimum for hero work.
I am not entirely sure on why his hero name is Blue Door, but I think he probably requested the name for some reason I could never guess.
Enough about him for now, I think I have found hero work I could do.
A cat stuck in a tree.
I think I could do that.
"Shadow, come on down!" A little girl held her arms up for the cat to jump into, but all the cat did was meow back at her.
"Come on Shadow!"
The cat was black, a usual sign of bad luck. Not that I cared too much.
"You need help with that?" I asked the little girl.
"Please, if you could. A hero came by earlier but he said that black cats were bad luck and left..."
'Oh man, poor kid.'
"What kind of hero would do that?"
"I don't know his name but he had armour on with a stupid looking scar on his cheek." The little let loose as I started to climb the tree.
"Well, you know you can report hero's to the association and they can get demoted for unheroic actions." I grabbed the cat, which promptly scratched me on the face.
It did nothing but leave a white line that faded quickly after that, and I jumped down from the tree.
"I don't know his hero name." She frowned, but her eyes were smiling, so I could see she was happy to get her cat back.
"If he has armour and a scar... hmm..." I went through the list of heroes in my head.
The closest I could think of was Darkness Blade. I am super sure he requested that terrible name.
"Did the way he speaks come off as... I'll say, cringey?"
"A little, when he said that cats were bad luck, what he actually said was, 'That cat is black, and thus I cannot help you, as bad luck would befall me.'" The little girl mocked in a low tone.
Spicy.
"That's probably Darkness Blade then. He is a B-Class hero, but I don't really remember his ranking."
"Thank you lady! You're more of a hero than he was."
"Not really, all I did was get a cat out of a tree. Not to mention I am at the bottom of Class C."
"You're a hero too?"
"Hm? Yeah. I didn't think people wore just this when going out, so I thought it may have been obvious enough."
"Well, that's all my mom wears when she goes out for a run."
"Ah fair enough. See ya later little girl." I waved goodbye and walked ahead.
"Goodbye! Oh, wait what's your hero name?"
"Ah, I started a couple days ago so I don't have one yet. I hope they accept my hero name request when they want to give it to me. Just call me Fukui."
"Alright, goodbye Fukui!"
I waved and continued on.
I wasn't going to report that as one of my heroic activities, as I don't think something so small should earn me my whole week of pay.
A/N: Slice of life for now. Just to simmer down, you know?
Also because wholesome stuff feels nice to write (ignoring the Garou part), it's also why I like reading Goddess of my Imagination. (Good book btw)
Anyway, I hope y'all have a good night! Or day, I have no idea when you'll read this.
I might keep it like this for another chapter, maybe 2, and then I'll start setting up for the Deep Sea King. YAAAAAAAAAAY.
