"Fate Is Funny"

Lai Jiayi's class ended at noon. Right after she ate at the campus' canteen, the girl immediately went back to the internet cafe to help Shan Liang take care of it.

Internet cafe.

"So your schedule now is to take care of the internet cafe, quack? What about visiting your father, quack?" Yaya asked as he floated near the girl.

Lai Jiayi was climbing the stairs when she heard the question.

Her steps paused a bit before she continued walking while answering, "I will visit him at 3:00 pm later. For now, I have to help Liang'er."

"Ehhh, is it a must, quack?"

"Well, no, but I'm staying in this house, so at least I have to do something for the owner of the house."

'What else can she do other than guarding the cafe? Maybe I can be the shop keeper for a while.'

"Quackay, go then quack, " Yaya reluctantly waved his wings as the two of them arrived on the third floor.

Lai Jiayi then hurriedly changed clothes into a more comfortable one before going down and sat on the shopkeeper seat.

The seat was empty as the part-timer she saw a few days ago wasn't there.

"I'll stay from 12 p.m until 3 p.m, okay?" Lai Jiayi suddenly told Yaya.

"Okay, quack. But where is Uncle Shan, quack?"

"He is sleeping. He needs rest."

"I see, quack…"

"Okay now...hmm...there's no one around, huh…" Lai Jiayi grumbled once she sat down on the seat, similar to the one used for a receptionist.

The table and the chair were made out of wood. There's a high wooden partition blocking the table so the customer could only stand up when they wanted to pay or something.

"Well, you can study or something when there is no customer, right, quack?" Yaya yawned lazily as he rolled on the smooth wooden table.

There's a computer on the table, a rather old type. This was used as a monitoring device.

"Mn, right." Lai Jiayi had just about to study or do something else when Yaya sprung up from his seat and shouted excitedly,

"Hey, there's a customer, quack! I feel someone come to this place, quack!"

"How do you know?" Lai Jiayi asked in disbelief.

"I can detect a human's presence from their body heat, quack! Maybe around 3 meters range, quack."

"Wow, so convenient!"

"It's draining my battery, quack, but anyway, I detect someone, quack! I'm serious! It should be a customer."

"Okay, okay."

Lai Jiayi was leaning on the chair, looking like a lazy, jobless guy. But then, she suddenly stood up.

'If there's a customer, I have to welcome this person!'

"So what's this customer looks like– " Lai Jiayi paused as she saw a girl around her age or maybe younger, approached her desk.

The girl was wearing a black schoolboy cap, slightly hiding her short wavy hair, which only reached a little below the ears.

'Her hair is...silver? Wait, isn't that lavender? Eh, but it leans more to silver…'

Seeing the unusual appearance of her customer, Lai Jiayi blinked in awe.

The customer wore a black racing crop top t-shirt, contrasting her pale skin. There's a two-layered chain connected from her shirt to her hot pants.

'So edgy…but today is spring. Why is she wearing summer clothes?'

Despite that, Lai Jiayi silently admired the girl's fashion sense when the girl suddenly looked straight at Lai Jiayi.

Her sharp, slanted up eyes glinted in turquoise color,  slightly stunned Lai Jiayi.

'This boyish girl's appearance is really unique!'

There's also a white bandage on the girl's right cheek looking as if she got a toothache or had just fought someone.

'From her tomboyish look, maybe she had just beaten someone…'

Lai Jiayi couldn't help but gulp nervously since the girl approached her in no time.

The way she walked was that of a gangster, unlike Shan Liang, who's just pure tomboy.

The young girl put both of her hands behind her head and whistled leisurely.

'That is truly the way a gangster acts, ah!' Lai Jiayi shuddered.

[Is this girl...a gangster? Streetfighter? Does she come here to make trouble?] Lai Jiayi suddenly asked Yaya.

[What?? How could you say that quack–]

[Internet cafe– is usually a place where dangerous people gather.]

[Really, quack?]

[Yeah. That's how Shan Liang became a tomboy like that. Her surroundings influenced her!]

Lai Jiayi bit her lower lips as she smiled sweetly, waiting for the girl who had just arrived in front of her to speak.

The girl was taller than her by a few millimeters.

"Yo, can you– "

The mysterious girl was just about to speak when Lai Jiayi's phone buzzed.

The same went for the girl. Her phone buzzed, followed by a loud rap music ringtone.

Both of them were stunned. They hurriedly check their phone.

When the girl took out her severely damaged phone, Lai Jiayi, who saw this, couldn't help but knitted her eyebrows.

"What's going on…" Lai Jiayi murmured to herself as she averted her gaze to her phone when Yaya's voice sounded in her mind.

[You meet a player, quack!]

'...what?'

Lai Jiayi's hand froze as she looked at the notification on her phone.

DING! [You meet a player! Click to see more]

Lai Jiayi was speechless. She went silent for a few seconds, not believing that fate was hilarious.

'Is fate playing with me? But doesn't the universe always have a way to play with someone's fate?'

Thinking like this, the girl massaged her temple before speaking to herself,

'I can't believe this...I...met a third player!'
