Piecing Together The Past Part 1

Grinning at the irony, Rachel gruffly answered, "She's not a doctor. She never made it into nursing school so the best she ever got was being a paramedic for most of her career. And I don't know if she ever tried to get a job with your dad's company or not, but her only interaction with your company I know of was when she had to pick up some lady from your fortress and take her to the hospital. And mom said that when she picked the lady up she was unconscious, then she had to shock her heart back to beating on the way, and that the lady died after getting shocked again at the hospital. So she decided that if working for the place could do that to somebody she didn't want to work there."

Surprised Wanda then asked, "So she was on the ambulance that we had to call? If I remember right her name was Linda right? Is she doing OK?"

Startled, Rachel responded, "Yeah her name is Linda. And why are you asking if she's OK? Did y'all expose her to some dangerous drug or something?"

Wanda responded in a calming, sympathetic tone, "No. She wasn't exposed to the drug we were testing. I was asking because I noticed she had recently got pregnant when she came so I was wondering if her and the baby turned out fine."

"Mom turned out fine health wise but her and dad split up during the pregnancy so she had to work so much it ended up stressing her out." Rachel replied.

Wanda nodded then pressed, "But what about the baby? Did the baby turn out OK? Cause I was worried that such a physical job would harm the baby."

Rachel grinned and said, "The baby turned out just fine. But the baby doesn't like getting grilled because she felt something was wrong with Steph's sister."

Surprised, Wanda responded with a chuckle, "So I take it the baby is standing in front of me and is named Rachel." Chuckling herself Rachel responded with a nod and Wanda asked with curiosity, "And you're an empath or feeler as well?"

Cautious, Rachel returned, "What makes you think that?"

Dawn interjected, "It's OK Rachel. Wanda is a listener and helps me test others with abilities so she was able to recognize your ability to already know of Jessica's state before you walked in the room."

Satisfied with Dawn's reassurance, Rachel then said to Wanda, with a grin "You haven't been trying to snoop through my mind to find all my dirty secrets for blackmail have you?

Grinning at Rachel's teasing, Wanda teased back, "I wouldn't have to snoop through your mind. Your girlfriend is more reactive and would spill the beans with just a little push."

Nervous about the possibility of Wanda having snooped through Holly's mind without her knowledge, Rachel asked, "You don't know Holly so how do you know she's my girlfriend and how she's less cautious than I am?"

Holding her hand up in a peaceful gesture, Wanda answered, "I didn't snoop. I only knew of her because during our conversation you projected the thought of telling her about me having met your mom. And, in the process, also projected her re-activeness. The spilling the beans part was just me teasing you. But I'm curious because the projection also included a thought about me maybe also knowing her mother as well."

Sheepishly Rachel supplied, "Her mom was the doctor that was treating your lady in the hospital and her mom mentioned to my mom when they were talking about it one day that there had been some woman coming in all the time to check on the lady so I was thinking it may have been you."

After thinking for a moment about the answer, Wanda suggested, "I think it might be better if you had Holly and this Steph boy both come join us." indicating Dawn being included, she continued, "because this might be something that all of you have pieces of and it may have ended up affecting all of you."

Surprised and worried, Rachel sent a need for her presence to Holly and at the same time Dawn contacted Stephan's mind and summoned him as well. Then, as Holly and Stephan turned off the the machinery they had been working on in order to come join them, Wanda put the recharged batteries in Jessica's hand to make sure she was right about the ability. Then a minute later, Jessica woke up and Wanda had her sit back in her chair and absorb enough energy from the cord to regain her normal energy level.

A short while later everyone was able to gather in the conference room. After an awkward minute of everyone else being unsure about the reason she had asked for the gathering, Wanda gathered her thoughts and started off by asking, "Holly. Can you tell me what Rachel just told me your mother had said about the case involving the lady from our company?"

Curious at why she was being asked for the memory, Holly shared, "After me and Rachel got to be friends back in high school and started hanging out at each others houses our mothers met to discuss a sleepover party we had both been begging them for. After discussing the party, they then starting holding a conversation while us two were playing and, during that conversation, they discovered that they both worked in the medical field and then started trading stories of different stressful or strange cases they had each separately handled. Anyways, it started out as the basic type of shop talk that all folks in similar professions have. But, when Rachel's mom related about transporting that lady and having to shock her heart back to beating, mom was startled and, shocking an unshakable doctor drew our attention to their conversation.

Mom then explained how she was the doctor that had been treating that lady and had to use the shock machine on her as well. They then mentioned this woman that rode the ambulance with the lady to the hospital who was also then seen several times at odd hours of the day checking on the lady. But after they told her that the lady died right before she got there that day, she went running out of the hospital screaming and they had to call the company themselves a short while later to let them know about the lady dying because the mystery woman didn't tell them when she went back there."

Wanda listened attentively the whole time and then asked, "And did they mention anything else about the condition of the lady we sent or why they had to use the paddles on her twice?"

Holly supplied, "As far as the reason for the shock machine, they just said it must have been some neurological condition or something. But both of them remembered the lady because they thought it was freaky that after they shocked her back to life, the lady woke up, congratulated them on being pregnant, and then rubbed their stomachs and strangely said 'she can't move yet but I can still feel her and she loves you dearly.'"

Curious, Wanda then asked, "Did she say the same thing to both of them?"

Rachel answered, "The feeling part she did. But she also told Holly's mom that when she met her soul mate we'd be able to fly."

Wanda raised an eyebrow and replied, "Very interesting. I may be able to explain what she might have meant. But first, Stephan, I need to know what, if anything, Susan told you about quitting the company."

Shocked at being directly asked to provide a memory of his own, he said, "Mostly she would tell us to never work for the company because making mistakes could kill us. But she also told me one time that she knew firsthand because one of her mistakes had caused a death and got her fired. Why?"

"I'll provide your answer in a moment." Wanda answered then asked Holly and Rachel, "Ladies, how often does Stephan push himself to such exhaustion that he passes out like Jessica did earlier? And is there any particular activity he is doing prior to these episodes?"

Rachel then told her, "He does it when he is making changes to objects with his mind. I think the other day Dawn called him an architect or builder or something along those lines."

Dawn then explained to her what the builder talent involved and what it did. After thinking through the information she had received from all of them, Wanda then asked, "Rachel. Holly. Do you know how far along your mothers were in their pregnancies when they interacted with the mystery lady?"

Holly answered for both by saying, "Rachel's mom was just shy of the 2 month mark and had just found out a day or two earlier. My mom was only at 2 or 3 weeks and didn't even know yet and had thought the lady was delusional until she took a pregnancy test a couple weeks later."

"Wow." Wanda responded, "I'm going to need a couple of minutes to think through all this information and make sure that what I'm thinking is actually what happened. So we might as well take a lunch break and I will enlighten you all about what your information has revealed and explained today once we are done eating."
