First contract

Two days passed really fast when you have things to do.

We've passed Skahazadhan river and Khyzai Pass through the mountains and were now closing in on the Lhazar city. They are mostly people of sheep herders, farmers and not warriors and that's probably why they hired us.

The pay is 2000 sheep for a year, but that's not exactly why I came here, I want them for me. What I mean is that we will take the city for ourselves, but will do it subtly.

That was the plan before Ser Bryce came up to me from his scouting run.

Even without him saying it, I already knew what was going on after seeing the smoke rising in the distance.

"Dothraki Ser Bryce?" I asked as he joined us.

"Yes my lord. About ten thousand." He said between his breaths and took a sip from his leather pouch.

"Is there a way to pass the river?" I asked and waited for him to catch his breath.

"Yes my lord, there is a crossing next to the town, we can ride directly inside. I think they are now pillaging the city." I heard him and smiled. Good. That means they are not ready.

"How about we introduce ourselves boys!?" I shouted to my cavalry units getting their war cry in response.

I took my spear and checked everything before signaling to Warrior to move. We paced slowly not tiring the horses before the charge.

Arthur, Bryce and Noya on my sides and back, behind them the heavy cavalry, then light and at the end my elites securing the rear.

They are better as infantry, but I plan to change that with some good instructors. No, not only good. The best riders that I can find.

I smiled and saw the city.

It seems like Bryce was wrong as I could still see the city defenders fighting so the massacre did not happened yet. Perfect.

"Sound the horns for charge! Death?! Not today!" I shouted and kicked Warrior to speed up a bit.

"Death! Not today!" A choir of voices came in reply.

It was irrelevant if they know that we are coming as the back of the Dothraki attack already spotted us and started to turn around.

If everything will go well we will hit them just as they turn around and since they won't have the time to use their speed we will just cut through.

"Form two lines!" I shouted and moved my spear to the side to spread my men.

I looked back and watched how the 500 heavy riders were spreading out and their horses matched Warriors pace with lances pointed high, ready to push through.

On open ground this would be useless as we wouldn't even be able to catch up to the light armored and fast riders, but here, where they are cramped together up at the entrance it will hurt them a lot.

We were about 200 meters from them.

I could hear their screamers and see them trying to move at us exited about the incoming battle just as we were.

"Chhhaaarrrggee!" I shouted with my full voice and lowered my spear, as a lance is still too heavy for me, but since they have no armor it should be enough.

The war cry of my men made my blood boil, adrenaline was pumping like crazy.

Epic! That's what was on my mind, I instantly remembered the scene from battle of the bastards when the horses collided. No fear, no questioning my decisions, no useless thoughts I found unnatural calmness in battle.

I could see everything slowing down as I lowered my spear.

There were about a hundred of the Dothraki that managed to charge at us, but this didn't matter.

Even if they had us at 5 to 1 we would be able to cut through. I trusted my men and they trusted me.

I saw a rider coming at me with his arakh, definitely a brutal weapon, unfortunately my leather armor won't be able to tank it, but why should it. I'm not planning on getting hit with it.

Just imagining the fight and challenge brought a smile to my face, I aimed my spear at the rider in front of me.

He had a long braid with few rings in it floating around, he was good...

Just as I lowered my spear he moved his body to evade, this still didn't help him and the terrified look in his eyes when I adjusted my spear's direction made it clear that he knew it was the end and it only made my smile grow wider.

The next moment my spear broke while sticking it into his chest, coming out of his back and throwing him off his horse.

So beautiful!

I let go of the now broken weapon, attached the shield to Warriors side and took out my two swords.

My partner felt the same excitement I did as he sped up as well leaving my units behind charging in the midst of the screamers.

Now with a sword in my right and left hands I had the whole surroundings to myself.

Warrior broke inside their disorganized group as calling this a formation would be offending to any trained army.

The second man was on my right with his side in my direction, I leaned closer and let go of the rains to let Warrior lead and just communicated with it using my thoughts.

He moved closer to the man as I thrust my sword between his right side ribs before he even noticed me, I could feel it piercing his flesh and stopping half way up the blade. I quickly pulled it out as an arakh came from my left.

I turned my head and blocked it with my left sword. The power in the swing was a bit too much so I asked Warrior to move away and step up again.

The Dothraki lost his balance with my parry and my right sword was already close to his eye.

He did try and moved his head away to the side, but I still managed and pushed it through his cheek to the back of his head.

His blood splashed over me and Warrior, but that only made it more fun.

We moved again when in the corner of my eye I saw a fallen screamer aiming at my horses legs from behind, I signaled to my red friend about the danger and grabbed on just to see the would be attacker getting kicked in the chest as it caved in. Good horsie!

I could see and hear my men ramming in the defenseless, unorganized riders.

So much for Dothraki attack as I saw them being mowed one by one.

The surprise and first line heavy armor with almost perfect team work brought them pain and death with the charge.

I turned back to evade an arrow aimed at my head. This might be a problem, I asked Warrior to move forward and he did while biting other horses while I killed the owners.

I killed about 20 maybe 30 men after all I wasn't really counting, I don't really know how long was I fighting for, but because of the fast movement my arms started to feel a bit numb.

Nothing serious yet, it was even better that way as it will let me pass my limits. If I don't die first that is!

I saw a big man charging at me. Me and Warrior were already covered in blood and yet I could see him clearly.

There were four men behind him waiving their arakhs like crazy. Idiots.

His movement was clearly faster than the rest, but still didn't seem special.

I rally liked horse fighting in the chaos of battles! It all comes to speed here.

You can have the best technique, but if I'm faster and better on a horse than you, then you will simply die. There was no other way around it and I was ready for it.

I patted my friend and told him through our thoughts. "Our story won't end here my friend... It's just beginning..."

He stood on his hind legs with a happy neigh just to move like a wind after. Our bodies covered in blood probably made a spectacular sight for the eyes to everyone who was watching.

I couldn't hear a thing, like the whole battle just stopped instantly the moment I charged.

I leaned back my body and when I passed him, my back touched the saddle, I was now laying flat on red. In my mind I thanked the guild for improved saddles that they invented to make the ride for cavalry more comfortable and for the heavy cavalry more stable as I saw the big man's arakh almost brushing my nose.

I straightened back up and put my weight on the stirrups while leaning my body to my right to extend my reach.

The second rider was so surprised after my swift attack that the head that flew away even had the disbelieve engraved in his fading sight.

I leaned back to the center and warrior pushed the third rider's horse making it easy for me to finish him off with a stab to the throat.

I adjusted my posture when the fourth rider came.

This one was a bit better as he managed to swing his sword at me just for me to block this one.

I would normally parry, but he leaned so far that the strike did not have any force behind it.

The moment my left sword blocked high, Warrior stepped closer and my right already moved low to his stomach. It's so easy when you don't have to hold the reins in your hands.

Even here I saw only a few of the Dothraki doing this in the close battle.

Well, point for me for being awesome and having my crazy red friend with me.

I stabbed inside his gut and moved the blade up to open him as much as possible.

We passed each other after the two exchanges and I was watching in slow mo as the last rider came at me. Damn he was so slow.

I got annoyed so I swung my right arm throwing one of my swords at him.

Bullseye! I watched as he leaned to the side and felt to the ground.

Now only the big one is left.
