-At Night – End of Dinner-
As soon as dinner was over I saw Professor McGonagall get up from her seat at the staff table and leave the great hall, but before she left she glanced at me.
And I understood the meaning of that look, which was basically her telling me that I shouldn't forget that our first dance class would be today, or more precisely, in a few minutes.
And knowing this, I got up from the Ravenclaw table and also left the great hall, heading in the same direction as Professor McGonagall, who was going to her office, which was where our dance class would take place.
And walking a little fast I easily caught up with the Transfiguration teacher, who started walking more slowly when she noticed that I was approaching her.
"So, ready for today's lesson?" she asked me, looking at me sideways
"I should be asking you that" I snorted, "Have you already prepared a medical kit or a healing potion for your feet?"
"That won't be necessary" she said, pursing her lips, "Because if you step on my feet I'll turn you into a pink-furred raccoon."
And saying this she looked at me with a slight look that made me doubt whether she was joking or not.
"Well... So no feet will be stepped on tonight" I nodded.
"Not tonight and not in the next" she said, with a small smile.
And with our short conversation we arrived in front of her office, and when she opened the door we both entered.
"Hmm, it looks like you've already prepared your office for the class" I said, looking around and seeing that there was a large free space in the middle of the office, with several unlit candles floating around.
And besides, there were also some musical instruments leaning against a wall, and I could feel magic in them.
"I said I would teach you, so obviously I would have everything prepared already," Professor McGonagall said, and I could hear a slight note of smugness in her voice, reminding me vaguely of my bushy-haired book-loving friend.
'I forgot he's like an older Hermione' I shook my head.
"But well, enough talking. You need to learn to dance in a week, so every second is important" she said, clapping her hands and making the candles light up.
However, before Professor McGonagall could start class, someone knocked on the door, interrupting us and causing the half-cat lady to look with a frown at the door, wondering who it was that had come to her office at this time of night.
And a little upset that someone was disturbing her teaching moment, something she considered very important, the Head of Gryffindor and Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts went to answer the door.
"Mrs. Flamel?" Professor McGonagall blinked in surprise, looking at the immortal lady who stood in front of her office door.
"Good Evening Minerva" Penny said in a friendly and cheerful tone.
"Good evening... I guess" Professor McGonagall said somewhat confused. She then shook her head, looking back at Penny, "Do you need anything Mrs. Flamel?" she asked curiously.
"Oh no, I just wanted to know if you've started dance classes yet." Penny replied, and then looked at me who was standing behind Professor McGonagall and nodded with a smile.
"Do you know about the dance classes?" the animagus witch asked in surprise.
"Yes, Ethan told me about them" Penny nodded.
And hearing that answer, Professor McGonagall turned to me, and I smiled innocently.
"But well" Penny said, bringing our attention to her again, "From what I can see you haven't started teaching Ethan yet, which is good."
"And why is this good?" Professor McGonagall asked, narrowing her eyes.
"Because then I can join you two" the immortal replied.
"What do you mean by joining us?" the teacher from the lion house looked at her warily.
"What I want to say is that I will also participate in these classes, since I also want to help Ethan and teach him how to dance"
And Penny's answer didn't much please Professor McGonagall, who resisted the urge to make a face.
"That's not necessary, Mrs. Flamel, I'm already here to teach him" Professor McGonagall said.
"But two people helping him is more efficient than one, isn't it?" Penny didn't give up, smiling calmly at Professor McGonagall.
And Professor McGonagall knew she was right, and she also realized that Penny would keep insisting and that she wouldn't give up so easily.
And knowing that it would be suspicious and even rude to continue refusing Penny's help, Professor McGonagall sighed.
"You're right" she said, "Having you here will be a great help to Ethan."
And with that said, Professor McGonagall stepped aside, allowing Penny to enter her office.
And the alchemist lady entered the office with a happy and victorious smile on her face, nodding at Professor McGonagall.
She then came to me and hugged me, "See darling, I'm here to help you too" she said.
"Yes, I am seeing" I said with a wry smile.
"Ahem" Professor McGonagall cleared her throat to get our attention, and looking at her I saw her staring at us with pursed lips, "If you've already finished, I think it's time to start class"
"Oh yes, of course" Penny said, breaking the hug as she looked at Professor McGonagall, who was looking at her with some feelings of envy.
And the two ladies then stared at each other for a few seconds in silence, with Penny keeping a calm smile on her face while Professor McGonagall pursed her lips into a thin line.
And I could feel a slight tension coming from both of them, with Penny amused by Professor McGonagall's obvious jealousy.
'Why do I feel a rivalry emerging here? And why do I think I'm going to be in the middle of it?' I wondered, looking between the two older women.

-Some time later-
[POV – Professor McGonagall]
I had started Ethan's dance classes by making the enchanted musical instruments in the corner of the room play a light, slow song.
I started explaining and teaching him the basics of ballroom dancing, talking about how he should behave, what movements he should make, and what courtesy was necessary when inviting someone to dance with him.
Of course, many of these things were for more formal events, and he probably wouldn't wear them to the Yule Ball.
But that didn't matter, as more knowledge was never bad.
But back to focusing on the main thing, now Ethan was practicing what I taught him with Mrs. Flamel.
They were dancing to a soft and calm song, with Mrs. Flamel guiding him while giving him some tips.
And seeing the two of them so close and having fun I started to feel a strange feeling arise in my chest.
'Is this jealousy?' I asked myself, making a small face.
'No, maybe I'm just feeling tired' I said mentally to myself, 'There's no reason for me to feel jealous of my student dancing with his grandmother, that would be stupid'
'And besides, why would I be jealous of them? I'm also teaching him to dance' I thought.
I then looked at the two and saw Ethan concentrated trying not to step on Mrs. Flamel's foot, and when he started to get the hang of the dance he lifted his head, smiling happily.
And seeing his smile I smiled too, feeling proud of my dear student.
'A dear student who I consider as my own grandson' I thought, and then I saw him looking at me, as if expecting some praise from me.
And seeing this I nodded amusedly, "Perfect, Ethan, you're doing great"
And hearing my praise his smile grew, and I could see happiness and affection in his eyes.
'Yes, a grandson who also considers me his grandmother... and I plan to fulfill this role' I thought, feeling a sense of satisfaction, pride and happiness rising within me.
And Mrs. Flamel who saw our short interaction and our smiles looked at us with a raised eyebrow.
She then stared at us for a few seconds, lost in thought before the realization hit her.
And after that she looked at me with a knowing and understanding smile.
'Apparently Ethan's charisma and kindness made another victim' she thought.
End.
