-Living Room – Some time later-
After a delicious breakfast prepared by Linnly, I helped Nick and Penny to settle in their room and after we organized everything we went to the living room, where my parents and Sirius were already waiting for us sitting on the sofas.
Arriving in the living room, I sat next to Sirius and across from my parents, while Nick and Penny went to the sofa next to us.
I then waved my hand, and from my bedroom two boxes flew into the living room, and when the boxes landed at my feet I waved my hand again, causing everything inside the boxes to come out, placing them on the table that was between us.
The table in front of us was now littered with papers, parchments, old and new newspapers, some wizarding law books and also some books containing information about the ministry and its workings.
"Wow" Sirius said shocked, as he had never seen me use wandless magic this way before.
"Yes, I'm amazing," I teased, nudging him lightly with my elbow, snapping him out of his shock.
"Prat" he said rolling his eyes.
"Ahem, since the two kids over there have already stopped playing" my mom said looking lightly at me and Sirius, and we smiled apologetically at her, "We can finally start planning how to exonerate Sirius"
"Yay, best way to have fun this vacation" my dad said sarcastically, getting an elbow from my mom.
"As I was saying, let's then review all the information we have about his case and his imprisonment" my mom continued, and we could all see her lawyer persona come to the fore, "As everyone knows, the Ministry has a very strong case against Sirius, and it will be difficult to get any judge to agree to reopen his case, especially since he was imprisoned 12 years ago, and because he has chosen to remain silent about his innocence for all this time," she said, fixing Sirius with an annoyed look.
And Sirius had the decency to look away in embarrassment.
"And even if the ministry agreed to reopen the case and hold a new trial, we would still have to have a good defense against all the accusations and crimes thrown at him" Nick said, and my dad who heard this turned to me.
"And by the way, what were the crimes that the ministry accused and would be accusing Sirius?" he asked me.
Hearing this question, I picked up one of the sheets of paper that was on the table, and looking at it, they could see that it was a list.
"Well, Sirius is accused of killing 12 Muggles and Peter Pettigrew, as well as being accused of betraying the Potters to Voldemort thus causing their deaths," I started to say, reading the list of all the crimes Sirius has been found guilty of, at least up to this point, "In addition to these accusations he is also considered a death eater and the right-hand man of Voldemort, the worst dark lord Britain has ever seen, further adding to his list of crimes"
"And we can't forget to add prison break to this list," Sirius reminded me, a little proud of the achievement.
"Yes, we obviously can't forget about prison break," I said dryly, but even so I grabbed a pen and added this crime to the list.
"Well... That's a long list of crimes" Penny said with a wry smile.
"Yes, but the good part is that all these accusations can be disproved just by the fact that Pettigrew is alive" I said with a shrug.
"Sorry for the pessimism, but this is the ministry we are talking about. The minister and his supporters are so idiotic and corrupt that I doubt they will do anything even if Pettigrew appears in the middle of the ministry hall screaming that he is alive and that he is the real guilty" Nick said, and Penny snorted at that.
"It's actually very likely that they'll try to sweep this whole story under the rug for fear of everyone finding out about their failure to arrest an innocent man," she said dismissively.
And listening to both of them I couldn't deny that they were right, because in a way that's exactly what happened in canon.
"Well, and that's why we need to talk to someone inside the ministry who can do something and who isn't under the influence of fudge or the other families," I started to say, pulling one of the old newspapers from the pile of newspapers.
"And that's just the person for it," I said, pointing to a picture of a stern-looking red-haired woman wearing formal Wizengamot robes, "The current head of the DMLE."
"Amelia Bones?" Sirius asked in surprise, but then he seemed to think for a moment, "Actually, she really is the best choice for this," he said.
I then turned to him with a raised eyebrow, "Do you know her?" I asked.
"She was Head Girl when James and I were in our third year at Hogwarts, and when we graduated and joined the Aurors she was our superior and one of the supervisors," he said, and I nodded.
"Seeing that you have other newspaper articles talking about her I can assume you already have an idea of how to contact her, right?" Nick asked.
"Actually it won't be that hard. Amelia is my friend Susan's aunt so I just need to send Susan a letter saying I'd like to speak with her aunt" I shrugged.
"Oh, that makes things so much easier," he said.
"Yes, and besides I also already have the perfect lawyer to call to help us with this case" I continued, and then I turned to Sirius, "And actually, this lawyer would probably very much enjoy being involved in this case"
"Why do you think that? And why are you looking at me?" Sirius asked.
"Because this lawyer is Ted Tonks," I replied, and Sirius' eyes widened in realization.
"Err... Sorry, but who is Ted Tonks?" Penny asked confused.
"Ted Tonks is the husband of my cousin Andromeda who was disinherited from the Black family after running away to marry him" Sirius replied.
"Let me guess, Ted is a muggleborn, and your family didn't take their relationship very well, did they?" Nick said, with a face that showed mockery and contempt.
"You nailed it" Sirius said with a weary sigh.
"Family stories aside, where are we now?" my dad asked.
"Hmm, if everything goes as planned we'll have possible help from the Head of DMLE, a good lawyer with reason to want to help us, and we already have enough evidence to prove Sirius' innocence" my mom said, and then she looked at everyone present in the room, "I don't want to get our hopes up, but I would say that we have a very good chance of getting Sirius cleared"
Listening to her, a small smile began to creep across Sirius' face, and I could feel the hope, anticipation, and relief coming from him.
"Yes, the chances are high, but even so, we can't take too long to initiate the plan" I said, and then I turned to Nick and Penny, "And for this to work we're going to need both of you to start putting pressure on the ministry at the same time as trying to get more evidence that he didn't have a trial."
"Is our part of the plan just to piss off and pressure the ministry? Heh, I think this is going to be the best Christmas of my life" Nick said smiling, and Penny beside him snorted.
"I can't disagree with that," she said.
"Well, since we're all on board with the plan then let's get started" I said, getting up from the couch, with the others doing the same, "I'll send the letters to Ted and Susan, and what about you. .." I pointed at Sirius, "You might start thinking about what you're going to say if you're taken to court"
"Huh? I'm just going to speak the truth," he said confused, and I snorted.
"If people were content with just the truth there wouldn't be gossip magazines or the Daily Prophet" I said, "You have to convince and win the jury's sympathy, and besides that you have to tell the true story in a way that doesn't put the ministry in a bad position, or they will try in every way to discredit you"
"Oh" was the only thing Sirius said. He then sighed, "I really hate politics"
"""""Me too""""" my dad, Nick, Penny and I said.

-Tonks' House-
[POV – Third Person]
"DAD, A LETTER HAS COME FOR YOU!" Tonks 'Don't call me Nymphadora', a beautiful young woman with short purple hair shouted, holding a dark blue envelope letter in her hands.
"WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING? I'M ON YOUR SIDE" Ted shouted back, sitting on the couch in the living room reading his newspaper.
"I KNOW" Tonks shouted again, going over to him and handing him the letter.
Ted took the letter and was about to shout again, but they heard someone clearing their throat behind them, and they tensed up immediately.
Ted and Tonks then mechanically turned to look at the entrance to the room, only to find Andromeda standing there looking at them blank-faced.
Andromeda had a similar appearance to Bellatrix, but her hair was a light brown and her eyes, even though they were sharp, were still kind and soft.
Her appearance did not differ much from the aristocratic appearance of the Blacks, but unlike them she had a calmer and less crazy air.
"Can you tell me why you are shouting when you are next to each other?" she asked, crossing her arms.
""Sorry"" the two said quickly, making Andromeda shake her head in exasperation, but with an amused look.
"Sometimes I think I'm the only adult in this house," she said, ignoring Ted and Tonks' indignant expressions.
Father and daughter looked at each other, looked at Andromeda, and then looked back at each other again, shrugging in acceptance.
...
...
...
"Sooo, aren't you going to open the letter?" Tonks asked her father after a while of silence, gesturing to the letter in his hand.
Ted looked at the letter, recognizing the envelope as the one Ethan usually used, and it made him raise a curious eyebrow.
"It's a letter from Ethan," he said, and that immediately cheered Andromeda up.
"Serious?!" she asked with an excited look, receiving a strange look from her daughter and an amused one from her husband. Noticing their gaze she straightened, returning to her calm demeanor, "I mean, oh interesting"
Ted then laughed lightly at her, opening the envelope to read the contents of the letter.
He started to read the letter with mild curiosity, but halfway through it his eyes started to widen, and by the end his mouth was hanging open in shock.
His daughter and wife seeing this reaction looked at him in concern.
"Dad?" "Dear?" they called.
Ted then blinked, putting the letter down and placing it in his lap.
"Holy shit" was what he said.
End.

(End AN: I saw in a news on the internet that Warner Bros is thinking about doing a Harry Potter Reboot...
I'm not the biggest fan of the Fantastic Beasts movies, but they're still acceptable, but I really hate the idea of a Harry Potter Reboot.
Some fans want this Reboot because it will have better special effects and CGI, and also because the movies will be able to better adapt some scenes from the books that are not in the current movies.
I can understand that thinking, but I still think it's stupid, and if the fans really want the movies to be more faithful to the books, they just have to read the books. The original movies are already great, and they may not be perfect, but they are still in the hearts of many fans.
And I hope that whoever wants the Reboots understands one thing: Being a 100% equal adaptation doesn't mean it's a good adaptation...)
