Women Are Scary

Sometime later, his fiancee gave out crystal cores. He knew of this from the knowledge he obtained in his dreams. He once entertained the thought that those dreams might be related to his future and so, he was willing to use the information he found from it.

Lu Jingren tried to find mutants with cores but found none. Those dreams were really full of lies.

Was he so unlucky? He was beginning to believe it when he saw that his fiancee had defeated the half-mutant with ease.

She was really different.

In his dream, she did not possess any ability, and instead, he protected her and ensured her safety and survival.

He was not jealous or envious. In fact, this was good. Since she could protect herself, she wouldn't have to suffer.

And this would also be just one of the many proofs that dreams were dreams while the reality was much, much different.

But Lu Jingren was not sure if he was slowly being bewitched by the things he saw, because despite knowing his fiancee was strong, his first instinct was still to protect her.

Lu Jingren isn't a genius but he could at least figure a few things out. At this point in time, he has slowly realized that his fiancee was not the same person as the one in his dream and that the other him in his dream, although similar in appearance, their personalities were still very different. They might share a few traits or two but no two people can ever be the same.

It was simply impossible.

He knows himself enough to tell that he would have been clearheaded in the face of his fiancee's rejection. He would have never attacked her like that. Moreover, Grandma and Grandpa reminded him many times over that he must treat his partner well.

"Ren'er, you must cherish your future wife. Because your wife will be your partner, and she would stand by you and take care of you. Grandma doesn't want to sound like she's nagging while saying this but... Grandma just wants to make sure that you aren't alone. Grandma and Grandpa aren't getting any younger... Someday we would also..."

"Grandma, don't say it anymore... I know what to do."

"Ah... this child. Seeing you say that with such a straight face, how can your Grandma be at ease?"

What was wrong with his face? Lu Jingren felt a bit dissatisfied. "Grandma... I'm no longer a child."

"I know... We know... Grandma and Grandpa know..."

"If you know, then why do you still..." Lu Jingren couldn't continue. The old Chen couple smiled at him, a bit sadly.

Seeing this, he understood where their worries are coming from. The old Chen couple was worried that his avoidance towards females, in general, would affect his future and marriage.

Lu Jingren was a bit at loss.

"Grandma... I'm young but not ignorant. Although women are scary, they are everywhere. I'll never be able to avoid them forever."

"Oh my goodness, this child... Old man, did you hear what this child just said?"

"I heard it. I heard it."

"Grandpa, are you also going to nag at me?"

Lu Jingren could not understand why the old woman made such an expression as if she was devastated. The old man was also sighing heavily as if he was burdened by something. They looked even more worried than before.

"At the very least... I won't treat a woman badly unless they do something against me."

This was a statement that he had upheld since the Old Chen couple passed away.

Obviously, the other him in the dream did not share the same principles. The other him scared that girl with so much possessiveness, it wasn't healthy.

To the person that shares his name and face, why did he do all of that?

Lu Jingren was not the type to be swayed easily by someone's appearance.

Although his fiancee was quite pleasant to look at, he was aware of her young age. He was five years older than her while she was only sixteen. Interestingly enough, the other him do not share the same sentiment.

'He and I...are really not the same person,' he thought.

Lu Jingren could list a lot of things that he had noticed while watching the other him. That other him hates spicy food even though it is Lu Jingren's favorite food. The other him was also paranoid and anxious to the point that Lu Jingren was wondering if they have any kind of mental disorder...

Lu Jingren was no expert but from the books he had read, he could make an intelligent guess and conclude that the other him possesses symptoms that can be found on a person with Borderline Personality Disorder.

The other him has rapidly fluctuating mood swings. Lu Jingren could see the other him being unstable with his sense of self. That other him was also rather...impulsive with a lot of fear, causing him to act erratically like what happened to the girl.

'No normal person would prey on such a young girl... What a pervert,' he thought.
