Making Friends(1)

The past five years of her life was spent secretly studying magic. The novel didn't exaggerate.

Ellendise was indeed a genius who was so attuned to magic that there was hardly any difference from breathing and controlling magic.

Magic to her was like second nature. Ellendise seized the opportunity to practice and perfect her magic once she realized this.

It got to the point that she made a very startling discovery.

Ellendise Ariadne Mielle Vitron was truly a rare genius.

She could control the four basic attributes of magic other than light and dark magic.

To her even greater surprise, being a formulator wasn't as hard as she expected. Formulators were magicians who were able to combine two or more of the basic attributes of magic.

For example, elves who possess a large number of formulators are able to combine earth, water and light to produce plant magic.

Elves were also the only race known for producing formulators that could manipulate plants.

This is due to the fact that light and dark mages were few in between. Elves are also a race known for the largest number of having light mages. This is because they were creatures of light.

But Ellendise, who was human was a natural born genius who didn't need to be a creature of light to be a formulator.

She understood the concept of combining magic and likewise, magic did her bidding as if it was her most loyal servant.

Using water and wind produced ice magic.

Using fire and ice produced hellish blue flames that were both hot and cold.

Using fire and earth produced magma. Formulators of this kind were usually dwarves.

Using water and earth produced clay magic. Fire and water to create fog and many others.

Lightning or sound magic were one of the rare attributes. Even the ability to manipulate metal was rare.

However, to Ellendise, nothing stands in the way of a genius. Coupled with 28-years' worth of memories from her past life and knowledge from all the fantasy books she had read... Ellendise truly lived up to the title of being a genius.

It was on her tenth birthday when Ellendise finally became disgruntled of her limited learning. The family library could only provide her with the basics among the basics of magic.

So it was during her birthday when she requested from her family that she wanted to receive books instead of dresses or jewelries.

Of course, Nitense completely ignored her by giving her a sword as a gift. The count had gotten so mad at his son for giving his only daughter a sword that he was ready to barrage the now fifteen-year-old boy with tons of hurtful words.

Ellendise was very quick to intervene.

"Big brother, thank you for the gift. I like it a lot. This is big brother's way of saying that I need to learn how to protect myself, right? Thank you, big brother. I'll definitely cherish this gift." Her smiling face almost blinded the father and son duo.

"Oh my little precious angel..." The count almost wept.

"You're already ten years old. Pretty soon, my darling daughter is going to grow up and get married. How horrible!"

"Honey, Ellen is only ten. She's too young for this kind of talk." The countess said.

"But honey, our darling daughter is too beautiful. I can't help but be worried."

"Father, don't worry. I'll teach Ellen how to fend off those basta--I mean, suitors. She'll be able to protect herself after I teach her!"

Ellendise smiled.

She wondered if this was the picture of a happy family. The love she never got from her birth mother in her past life was given by someone else in this life.

Ellendise somehow wanted to know what could have been Rianne's future if she didn't dedicate her life on the one person who never gave a care.

What would have been Rianne's future if she sought happiness for herself?

Ellendise felt somewhat sad and bitter for her past self who lived a pitiful life, craving someone's love. She could have been successful. She could have been happy.

But now, Rianne was no more.

The lonely and pitiful 28-year old Rianne has passed away.

Only Ellendise remains.

In this life, she would be happy, for herself and for the deceased Rianne who never had anyone.

This would be her last act of honoring Rianne.

Ellendise has always told her family that she wants her birthday to be celebrated among them and to not uphold an extravagant birthday party with numerous guests.

Ellendise was currently the daughter of the count and it was very advantageous for people in high society to hold banquets and form connections.

But Ellendise didn't want to be restricted in this life. She was done playing it by the rules and if she really wanted to be happy, freeing herself from all the things that were holding her back was the only way to make it happen.

This included playing the role of the villainess.

Ellendise wasn't innately kind or gentle like the female lead Letia but she also wasn't as cold as the villainess Ellendise from the novel.

If Ellendise was going to walk the path of the villainess, she would rather not have reincarnated.

And so, Ellendise who was determined to live a free life promised to get rid of anything that stands in her way.

However, life doesn't always give you what you want. She realized this in her past life when she died and she realized this as Ellendise.

Because the ten-year-old Ellendise inevitably encountered the also ten-year-old Letia Rhaine.

The lovely and sweet Letia was a girl with dark luminous hair and baby blue eyes. She was a frail little thing that made others want to protect her.

Ellendise now realized why so many characters from the novel fell for this girl. She was as adorable as a bunny.

An innocent beauty that made people want to prevent it from being corrupted.

Ellendise herself wasn't bad looking. In fact, when she saw her appearance in the mirror for the first time, Ellendise knew immediately that she would grow up just as beautiful as Letia. Perhaps even more.

The novel Ellendise was a very cold and calculating woman which is why many overlooked her beauty. It was due to her almost unapproachable personality.

It was even described in the novel that if only Ellendise knew how to smile, she would be even more beautiful than the pure Letia who was carefree.

Ellendise didn't doubt it.
