You're My Lucky Charm

I sip hesitantly on the cup of water as I stared at the table from the weight of the silence. The atmosphere surrounding our table was so tense that you could cut it with a knife.

All I could do was hope that the dishes could be delivered ASAP as I had been sipping on this cup of water ever since it was served. There was hardly any breathing room at the table from the daggers the two had been glaring at each other with.

It was only now that I felt like I should have declined his invitation for dinner altogether. Unable to take the silence any longer, I decided to break the silence and take the initiative to ask what he was doing here when Cain beat me to it.

"Why are you here? Didn't you place the management of this departmental store under me?" Cain taps his finger impatiently on the table as he glares at his father.
