C33. Paralysing Crystal

A golden light pulsing glow slowly illuminated the dense forestry as a gawking crowd surrounded the culprit; Assistant Professor Genosa who was stood by the supposed seal opening, a dark brown staff stood floating before him as he closed his eyes and muttered some unknown language.

Suddenly, the staff shook, vibrating and quivering as the golden pulses gradually became brighter and more irregular.

"I've got it!" Genosa's eyes flickered open as the staff descended into his hands, his head turning to Professor Deil, "We're looking for a rock shaped item," he informed, moving his hands to estimate the size of said rock,

"A rock?" Professor Sylis suddenly scoffed, taking a quick look around and picking a small stone from the ground and tossing it over lightly, "If you're looking for a rock this supposed 'seal', there's thousands here. Take your pick, go wild-"

"Sylis." A firm voice cut in as an annoyed Deil turned to her, his eyebrows scrunched, "If you don't wish to cooperate with this investigation of ours, please go form your own and do your own research. If not, then stay quiet."

Silence filled the air as everyone's gaze spun to the embarrassed Professor Sylis who simply crossed her arms and clicked her tongue.

"Oh damn," A whistle quietly echoed through the crowd as Zeffern stood at the back, his hand behind his head as he watched the drama unfold,

"Hey Elliot," He suddenly leaned over to his buddy with a slight raise of an eyebrow, "Don't you think Professor Sylis' is acting kinda… strange… right now?"

Elliot glanced over at Sylis with a slight nod,

"I think the strange one's that dude," a voice suddenly cut in their conversation as Palmer's head popped in between the two, his finger pointing towards Genosa, "Isn't he just an Assistant Professor? How does he know that spell? What secret is he hiding? If I was in Professor Sylis' position, I would question it too."

"You're just saying that cause you got those rose-tinted glasses on, you love-struck dumbass," Another voice cut in as Sara could be seen standing behind Palmer and hitting the back of his head,

"-as I as saying…" Genosa's voice suddenly sounded out once more, "It's a rock or a stone around this big," he once again gestured the size with his hands, "it's obsidian black and unbreakable and its able to reflect light off of it,"

A sudden murmur resonated through the crowd,

"…so a piece of obsidian…?" Palmer glanced around at the sudden excitement of the crowd around him and tilted his head in confusion, "What's so surprising about that?"

"Use your brain a bit more," Sara shock her head in slight disappointment, "What else is black, unbreakable and reflective?"

"A Forbidden Stone… Forbidden Magic!" Elliot's eyes lit up as he spun to face Zeffern, "That's what made Lenso freeze when he was attacked, it was the Paralysing Crystal! Forbidden Magic!"

Zeffern's eyes also lit up as he listened to the theory, he also spun his head towards the rest of his group, "We need to find a Forbidden Stone that has Paralysing Magic stored into it?"

Professor Genosa turned towards the group with a smile, "That's exactly right."
