Helping Him

Outside the SHEN GROUP building, Vince pulled up the door so that Hailey could enter her car. 

"Thanks…" Blushing, Hailey thanked Vince. She knew this was part of their act, but lately, she couldn't control the fluttering in her heart from his gestures. Her chest beat wildly like she would have a heart attack at any moment.

Hailey thought Vince would leave now. But he remained leaning on the car. 'What is he doing?' The way Vince acted lately left a concern in her heart.

"All right. Tell me right away if you came across Zenaida and she bothered you. Let me take care of her."

"Don't worry. I won't yield without a fight. But I won't fight back if you don't like me to do scandalous scenes."

Hearing her reasoning, Vince couldn't help but laugh. The scene the two security guards witnessed at the entrance surprised them, but they pretended to see nothing.

"Okay. Of course, you should protect yourself. But let me know if anyone causes you trouble. I'll deal with them, okay?" he assured her.

Hailey fell mum. She couldn't find words to respond, so Hailey nodded and smiled timidly. She was more preoccupied with settling her chest than listening to him. She was worried that Vince would hear how fast the beating of her heart was.

Vince informed her, "I might not come home early tonight, so I'll just fix something for you,"

She realized he spoke so close to her ears. 'Now he is acting like a lover?' Hailey thought. It made her more uncomfortable. 'He's not informing me of his activities before, and that's new.' 

"Okay! Got it!" she sighed as Vince was still so close to her face. 

"Have a safe drive to the university," said Vince. He then planted a kiss on her forehead.

Meanwhile, Vince's assistant Timothy Cheng shook his head while peering below. His boss has the leisure time to flirt in the middle of work. Tim lifted his head to find out the other executives were also curiously leaning in the floor-to-ceiling window to gossip. Everyone was curious to meet the mistress, but they were on the 55th floor. It is impossible to have a clearer view down below.

Tim coughed to remind everyone to return to their seats. Embarrassed, they sat down and waited for the CEO to return.

Like bitten red, Hailey trotted into her LaFerrari Aperta and squeezed through the traffic to arrive at school on time.

'What is wrong with that CEO? He is suddenly touchy! ' Although it was in the contract, she would allow him to do such things for their acts, like being intimate.

'Maybe I'm just not used to having intimate interaction with the opposite sex because I have never had a boyfriend since birth.' All she had was a bunch of male friends. 

Hailey deeply thought about Zenaida's reply to Vince about Eva. Does no one know her whereabouts? That's impossible. 

She didn't believe it when Zenaida said her sister was still not contacting them. But what was Vince doing? Why didn't he take this matter seriously? With his money and influence, he could surely afford to pay someone to look for his wife.

Even though he hated chasing a woman, the case is his divorce from Eva.

'It seems I need to step in and help Vince search for his wife. Once Eva found and signed the divorce paper, it meant it was the end of our contract,' Hailey thought.

When that happens, she can finally go back home to Australia.

Then, she will act on her own to help Vince get his divorce as soon as possible. For the three months she acted as Vince's mistress, she slowly got to know him.

Vince is a workaholic. He never takes a break to relax and only occasionally takes two vacation days.

'Sometimes, I could see myself in him.' Hailey thought. 'Maybe the difference is that I am surrounded by many people who love me.'

But Vince is hiding even from his family because of this marriage thing.

'It is why I signed the contract—I want him to get his divorce from that woman! She doesn't deserve Vince!'

That woman takes advantage of the privileges Shen gives her as her daughter-in-law. But she was here to help Vince escape the arranged marriage thing.

Vince deserves to be happy. When he gets his divorce, he hopes to find a woman who will love him for the rest of her life, not because she is after his money.

'I prayed she would take care of him and watch his health. Vince always misses his meal on time and in dinner meetings and gatherings, causing him to drink too much.'

'Maybe he needs a domineering wife? The one who nags him always to eat on time, encourages him to visit his gym to exercise to stay healthy, and most of all, a woman who insists that he take time to relax and go on a vacation to bond with his family?' 

Yes! He needs to find a new wife! And I'm going to help him! 

Excitement crept into her chest. Hailey searched for someone's contact on her IG account and connected a call. She waited for several rings before that person answered it.

"Hello, Princess?"

The person on the other end of the call sounds sleepy and yawning.

She teases, "Hi, Pitt! Where were you? Are you still sleeping? It's almost noon in Australia!"

"What's up? I'm nowhere in Australia," answered the guy.

Curiously, Hailey asked Pitt, "What? Where are you?"

"I'm in the Caribbean."

"Oh, okay, then, isn't it still evening there?" Somewhat, she was happy to know. It's perfect timing for the task she had to give to Pitt.

"I haven't sobered up yet," Pitt admitted.

"I see. You were drinking for days again, I presumed."

Pitt rolled on his bed and said, "Well, I'm awake now. You won't call me without a job for me, right?"

"Yup! I have a new job for you. Well, not new, but another task."

"Okay, I'm all ears, Princess."

"I want you to locate Eva Lan."

There is a moment of silence from the other line. Then, Pitt asked, "The who? Wait, are you not over with her yet?"

"It's not about that. I don't care about that woman anymore, okay? But I have important things to deal with her. Please send someone to the US to check whether she is there or she was in Australia. Please assign someone who will keep an eye on Bryan, too. I'm sure he knows where that woman is. He is the closest lead to her location."

"Okay. Haven't you moved on yet?"

"I am already," With all honesty, Hailey replied Pitt.

"But why are you looking for her and even want me to follow Bryan? You already called off the wedding, right?" 

Hailey could picture Pitt frowning when she heard him mention Bryan's name. She replied, "It's a long story! I will give you more information once you find her."

"Okay... so that's the only job I should do? Or do you want me to do other things after that?"

"I want you to do other things, yup! But not yet the perfect time. After you locate Eva Lan, I will tell you what next step you must take. Do you understand?"

"Yes, ma'am!"

"Alright! I'll call you, or you DM me about the progress."

After a few more words, Hailey ended the call. Now, the first step has been taken to search for Eva Lan.

Secondly, to expose her cheating on Vince. Once the evidence is in, Eva will get nothing from Vince.

The third is the search for a perfect wife. After that, she could return to Australia and continue her life!

Hailey felt like she had just closed a One Billion Contract Deal.

"Don't worry, Mr. CEO. You will be happy soon!"

Hailey had this smile on her face even when she arrived at the university. She was late because of the heavy traffic, but it didn't change her mood. 

But not until she sits in the next class when whispers arise.

Hailey raised her brow. Is this related to her? She needs to check her phone.
