"How was our last shift? Is Brian well?"
Still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I turn around to see him sit across from me in one of the chairs. I quickly check my phone; a few messages and it is... fucking six in the morning. I groan falling back into the bed wrapping myself in my covers.
"Hey! That is very rude. You have a guest."
"I never thought I would but I am regretting giving both of you the keys to my apartment."
Chuckling, "Nonsense. Come there's a place I wanna grab breakfast at. I heard the coffee is spectacular."
Throwing myself out of bed I lazily get dressed, "It's cruel of you to force me out of my own house. My last shift ended five hours ago."
"I've seen you survive with less sleep."
"That's because I wasn't trying to get a good sleeping schedule!"
"Hmmm, what changed with you (Y/n)? Ever since I knew you-you would stay up at the crack of dawn and work your ass off. Is it Akali?"
I peer over my shoulder, wearing a smile he was clearly teasing me, "Listen... you can delve deeper into my mind later. Let me just wake up normally without having you picking apart my brain."
He leans backward, "Okay okay. Anyway, Angel went out to meet up with Akali. Works out perfectly because I wanted to talk to you anyway."
"I can only begin to imagine."
"You can? Perfect." He jumps to his feet walking towards the door, "You done getting dressed? I would like to get going before they run out of specials."
Luis has always been like this. So... spontaneous. I've known him longer than he knew Angel, been friends pretty much since we met at school. He who was outgoing next to me that would much rather stick to himself. It was a perfect relationship of forcing me to be social and me keeping him from doing anything mind-numbingly stupid.
It was a long drive that felt like we went across the entire town just to eat. I pointed out that we could just stop at a nearby restaurant but he was insisting that we should eat at this very specific place.
Sat down he browses through the menu, as the waitress comes up flashing a smile, "Goodmorning welcome to our little place. Is there anything I can bring for you whilst you decide on your orders?"
He shakes his head, "No need. We would like to take two of the specials of today please."
"Two of the specials. Okay got it I will be over with your drinks shortly."
Narrowing my eyes, I wave at Luis as she leaves, "Listen I didn't order any drinks."
"Don't worry they will get your coffee right, it's in the special so just relax a bit for me okay?"
"Whatever you say, so why did you drag me all the way across town for?"
"We don't get to hang out as much as before Absolute Zero and I figured that you missed some of our romances," he adjusts himself in the seat, "Besides this way we have less chance of running into the girls ensuring that I have all your attention."
"Not to be rude but I think between the two of us it's obvious which one pays more attention," I chuckle.
"Of course that is true but you see I already have a relationship."
"Hmmm, so this is about that."
"That and more. So to get down to the point, what's the deal between the two of you?"
Laying back into the chair, I think a bit, "It's really hard to say whether or not there is something there. I am interested in her and her work but it feels as if she is more interested in work than me-"
Cutting me off, "Stop thinking and just go. If you start trying to understand then this is lost from the get-go. Well, that is as good as the advice gets. The rest is all you."
Raising my brow, "Hmmm, you actually think I am going to forward with it?"
"Why not? The gains are far greater than the losses and here I thought you were the smarter one between the two of us," he chuckles. Greeting our waitress with a smile she sets our drinks in front of us.
Taking a sip of the coffee, it warms my core. Nodding, I sigh, "Well you aren't wrong there isn't much to lose. One thing though... what gave it away? We haven't talked in the past few days."
"Well you see after the first day she stayed behind when the two of us went to our apartment, we wanted to invite both of you over but she said she wanted to discuss work with you."
"So discussing work led to you thinking there is a connection?"
"I know she went home with you the other night. The next day I wanted to visit but you weren't there so I only assumed you went with Akali. Unless there was someone else?" he smirks.
Shaking my head, I take another sip, "There isn't."
"Don't take this the wrong way but it isn't like you to be," he air-quotes, "Social."
"Ha, I won't argue." I cross my arms leaning onto the table, "So let's just say I am interested-"
"Which you obviously are," snickering he takes a sip from his own drink.
"Yeah yeah, but back to my question. How would I go about knowing if she actually likes me? If I can confirm that at least what then?"
He leans back into the chair rubbing his chin. My heart is racing, I just want to know more. It isn't like I feel like this about just anybody... I don't want to fuck it up any more than I probably already had.
"Just keep your cool. No sense in panicking about every small detail. Just look for obvious cues like biting her lips, excessive physical contact, a lot of eye contact. Things like that should be clear indicators. If you want to, just swallow your anxiety and ask her out, the easiest way to get anywhere is to test the waters," he then chuckles, "Just don't get too ahead of yourself."
"So essentially, look at the cues but don't take it to heart? It just feels like your making fun of me."
"Hmm, it would be funny to see you flustered. Just do whatever comes naturally."
Right, it might just be as simple as that.
The waitress sets our breakfast down on the table. She hovers in place, "Is there anything else you want to order?"
"No thank you," I shake my head along with him. Helping myself to the food he turns back to me, "I heard the last shift was a blast."
"It was," swallowing my food I continue, "Akali stayed around for a bit and even took the booth over for an hour or so before she had to leave. I was surprised Brian didn't throw both of us out."
"Well technically to the audience it just looks like me and Angel we're there instead. Besides they don't even know if there's two or three of us."
"Well, I am going to miss it."
"I had an idea... and well I'm not going to run it by you yet but essentially it's just a thank you present for how far you brought us. So you just gonna have to wait a bit."
"No worries."
Finishing our plates, a familiar voice rings next to me.
"Hey baby!" she slides next to Luis giving him a kiss on the cheek, "Hey there (Y/N), how is your morning been guys?"
I feel another body press against me, turning my head I see Akali next to me, scooting up she fills my place still close to me.
"Hey there stranger," she smiles widely.
"Hey the two of you," I greet back.
"Oooh, our morning? Well, it has been pretty great. You guys missed it he was practically talking my ear off, and Akali I thought you weren't going to make it what happened?"
Not going to make it, hah I bet this is planned out.
She lifts her shoulders chuckling, "Well I was going to go back home to hang with the girls but Angel mentioned meeting up with the two of you, and with a little arm twisting here I am."
"Agh, don't lie it didn't take much convincing!"
"We all know saying no to you doesn't exist, Angel," I poke fun at her. "Trust me even if you had to be convinced she would have put up a fight."
Turning to me she raises her brow, "Oh, you think it would take convincing to come to see a few of my favorite people?"
I shake my head, "To be honest I didn't expect to see you at all today."
"Well... don't you think the thing that matters is that I am here?"
"I prefer this much more than you not being here."
She leans in closer, "Hmmm, so why don't you show me it rather than just saying it." Her eyes lower to my mouth, biting her lip I lean closer in response.
"So what do you guys say?"
"What?" I quickly glance back to the two across from us, then back to Akali. I can feel my cheeks getting hotter. I quickly shake my head.
Luis nods to himself, "That will do."
"What will do!?"
The three of them laugh at my response, Akali nudges against me, "Don't worry about it he is just teasing you."
Angel then continues, "If you two are done being mesmerized by each other are we meeting at some point again to hang out? A double date if you will?"
Luis tries to speak up but I interrupt him, "You can call it that," turning to Akali, "Would you mind at all?"
"No, I am all for it. Just not tomorrow... it is Saturday and we at K/DA have some work to do. Sunday I should be free."
"Then we will make plans for Sunday then," Angel states with a smile.
"Remember (Y/N) don't oversleep or anything. Keep that sleeping schedule you want to repair in mind."
I sigh, "If you just let me fix it then it shouldn't be a problem."
"Well, I can't make those types of promises. We need to go to the club to meet up with Brian, you didn't clean up after yourself and we need to give the new DJs some help."
"If only (Y/n) did that this morning."
"Get off my back, will you. At least you didn't have to do the last shift."
Angel winks at me giggling, "And we appreciate you for it."
"We should get going then, we will be busy for quite a few hours. Yaknow supervision and all," he gets up to go pay for the food.
Akali calls after him, "Will be seeing you." She slides out beside me, "I will be going as well. Thank you Angel for the day."
I slide out after her, "I will walk you out."
Keeping close at her heels we push through the door, she stops in her tracks letting out a sigh.
"Something wrong?"
Peering over her shoulder she narrows her eyes, "Promise me next time we go out it would be the two of us." She then mumbles to herself, "So much for my own plans."
"We will, I guarantee it."
She turns around, kissing my cheek she whispers into my ear, her warm breath making my heart race, "I like confident you." Winking at me she pushes away from me, "Ahri wants some help tomorrow so I kind of volunteered you to help. Besides it plays into the plan I have for you so you can't say no."
"Wasn't planning on it. I wanted to get to know each one of you in K/DA."
She scoffs, "She has a boyfriend, no need to be that confident."
"Wait no! That is not how I meant it!"
She laughs loudly, "It is okay I am only pulling your leg, but it wouldn't be that bad no?" she seemed unsure of herself.
"That bad...?"
Interrupting my thought she continues, "I will probably see you tomorrow during the day. Don't forget about Sunday as well," she waves at me as she jumps into her car.
Turning around I see both of them standing in the doorframe smiling, "Okay, just give me an idea of how long you have been standing there," I shake my head lifting my hand, "Nevermind I don't want to hear anything."
"I did tell you, dear, there was a connection."
Angel giggled, "At least I know for sure now."
"You two are planning something aren't you?"
They both walk past me, raising his voice he speaks dramatically, "Oh how dare you think of us like some unjust influence upon your life as all we ever wanted is the best for you. Can you believe this Angel... oh the tragedy."
Rubbing my temples I try not to laugh, "Let's just get going yeah?"
