Episode 2: A Broken Melody

She didn't even think once why she was running behind a strange boy with her favorite ice cream in his hand. And he didn't know why he was doing it either.

If Yoon-gi saw them right now, he would have leaned against a wall, crossed his arms and shook his head from side to side, "I have dumb friends," he would have said and replaced his headphones back on his ears and walk off to buy some chicken.

Jung-kook's morning alarm rang when they had reached the park nearby and he stopped. She came to a halt and stared at him take out his phone and switch it off.

"Are you giving me the ice cream or not?" She asked, tapping her foot on the pavement. She realized she had nothing better to do and at least getting some good ice cream would shine some light.

She was panting by now but he was standing straight, his hand extended. She smiled and took it out of his hand and sat on a bench, opening the box up.

"Arrrrgh!" she wailed looking at the soggy mess the ice cream had become in the hot sun. Jung kook stepped forward and took a look and grimaced, "It looks like puke now," he commented.

"I can't believe Nam-joon wanted something like this," he thought to himself. And then his eyes went wide, "Oh damn, Nam-joon! He must be waiting for me to come back. I need to go before he sends an emergency search party to find me!"

It was only reasonable for the other members to freak out if Jung-kook didn't come back on time. The threat of wild Sasaengs had strangely grown this month.

He turned to go when Lisa got up and stood in front of him, "Do you know anywhere I can stay?"

Jung-kook rubbed his neck, really nervous now, "Uh, why? You don't live around here?"

She shook her head, licking her spoon, "I got kicked out," she lied. It was slightly a lie, she didn't want to say that she ran away, that was a very kiddish thing to do.

He looked around, suddenly wanting to run away, spending too much time with a girl was very dangerous for someone like him, he pulled his mask higher on his face, "I don't know, ask someone else," he said and walked past her. He needed to go. He needed to go home, where it was safe.

Lisa turned to look at him in surprise. He was friendly one second, cold the next. She raised her spoon at him, "Yah! What the hell is wrong with you, you dickhead!" she screamed frustrated. She tried to keep her anger in check and not let it fly out like it did all those years ago.

Jung-kook stopped walking. His ears rang with her cutting words. "Familiar..." he mumbled and turned around to look at this girl.

Tall. If her eyes weren't so puffed and if her wasn't covered by the bright sun, he would have recognized her. But hearing those dreaded words again, made him connect the pieces together. He never imagined he would hear it again.

"L-Lisa?" he blurted out loud.

She cocked her head, "How do you know me? Did we go to school together?"

Jung-kook couldn't believe it. It was her. But, he was shook. The Lisa he used to know and this girl in front of him were entirely different. This Lisa was....nice.

He strode towards her and pulled her by the arm and dragged her. "What the hell are you doing? How do you know my name?" she yelled, "Let me go!!"

He turned around and placed a finger on his lips and continued pulling her. He led her through the back gate of the house where the other members were and led her into the summer house behind the main house.

"Where are you taking me?" she asked again, tears in her eyes.

Jung-kook closed the door and looked at her. "Lisa, do you know who I am?"

She narrowed her eyes, "Am I supposed to?" she asked, really trying. Her day just can't get better! Now she was being kidnapped in her own hometown! She sighed and dropped the spoon in her shopping cover.

When she looked up, she saw him removing his mask, one ear loop at a time to reveal his complete face. Lisa stepped closer unconsciously and looked at him. Those perfect baby eyes. Familiar lines...she had only ever seen them on her phone screen the few times she clicked on their MVs.

"Do you all come in a package?" was the only thing she could say out of all the horror that was raging in her head. Yesterday it was Tae-hyung...today Jung-kook...does that mean...the other five were close by?

Jung-kook was expecting a totally different reaction. He cleared his throat, "What do you mean?"

She shook her head, and proceeded to get out of the summer house, but something stopped her. She turned to look at him, "Jeon Jung-kook," she said out loud, "Do you still hate me?"

Silence fell over them and they individually felt the summer house disappear. Now, it was just them in a dark place and all those horrifying high school memories playing around them. A broken melody was intensely playing itself in the distance as the bully and her victim re united after so long.

And so many things have changed.

"I-" Jung-kook started, not knowing what to say. He had stopped thinking about those times because he never expected the past to step through the door like this. But now, he only felt a dull hurt for himself. But for the others, Yoon-gi, Nam-joon, Jimin, Tae-hyung...his anger had started to flare from the inside, just looking at her face.

But he couldn't take it out...she wasn't that Lisa, he knew...Jung-kook shook his head, "No. I think."

"Why?"

"Because our lives aren't affected by you anymore. We don't waste our time even thinking about the things that used to hurt us, so we don't have time to hate or like you either." Jung-kook stated and sighed.

Lisa felt a throbbing pain in her heart, like she was invisible and useless. All these years she had spent on Earth, and nothing good has come out of it. She couldn't even make one person genuinely smile. She didn't know why she expected them to think about her.

For God's sake, she thought to herself, I literally ruined their lives! Then she paused and looked at Jung-kook. No, that wasn't right, she corrected herself, I didn't affect him at all. He is happy now. He is successful and nothing I did affected him.

The seven moved one and threw us away like trash cans. She internally scoffed, "I deserve this."

Outside the summer house, Tae-hyung had just finished eating breakfast. Min Yoon-gi stepped down the stairs, "Have you seen my old lyric book?" he asked V. Tae-hyung shrugged and tucked his phone in his pocket, "Did you search your room?"

Suga nodded, "Yeah, yeah, I can't find it."

Tae-hyung looked around, "You search the other rooms then, I'll check the garage and the summer house."

Yoon-gi gave a thumbs up and trotted off, humming a beat he just found. He had to check with his lyrics book if the words matched the tune.

Tae-hyung slipped on a snapback cap, backwards and stepped out into the sunshine. "Ahh," he covered his face slightly, "What a hot day..."

He peeked over to the garage and found RM revving a bike. RM looked up at Tae-hyung, "Is Jung-kook back yet?"

Tae-hyung shook his head in surprise, "No, I told him to buy ice cream...aishhhh, where is that punk?" he asked himself and turned the knob of the summer house.

The door swung outwards and he found the punk he was looking for. But right in front of him, at the door was the back of a tall girl with long wavy brown hair. She turned back at the sudden inlet of sunshine and met Tae-hyung's eyes, this time mask off.

Her heart thumped twice. One because Jeon Jung-kook was behind her and twice because V was in front of her.

"You again?" Tae-hyung asked bewildered. What was she doing in the summer house with Jung-kook? And the doors were closed? How did they meet?

V looked at Jung-kook, "What is a girl doing inside the house? And why her?" Tae-hyung looked at her again, "I thought I dropped you home. Why-"

"Tae-hyung," Jung-kook said.

V looked at him in surprise, "Hmm?"

"This is Lisa."

I had just finished writing this chapter and the previous one when I found out Blackpink's Ice Cream was coming out. What a coincidence...Lisa and Ice Cream.
