DAMON'S POV

"D-Damon? Damon, I hate you. God, I hate you so so much."

I stood there stunned. Was this the same woman who was begging me to come back two hours ago? I had given up everything I had done over the past two centuries, and this wasn't exactly the welcome I had expected. 

Sure, she might want an explanation, and she would have been a little angry. 

But this. This wasn't what I had in mind. 

"Hello? Are you here, Damon? I have places to be and I am sure you have too."

I swallowed the spit that was left in my mouth and tried to speak something to comfort her. If I had still been an angel, I had by calming powers. 

But now that I am some common mortal, I was left with nothing but my dry mouth and awkwardly placed hands.
