While practicing, link kept thinking about the more advanced magic spells. chore magic isn't suitable for combat

'caeli' creates a small gust of wind.

'ignis' creates a spark strong enough to light something on fire.

'terra' moves some dirt or a rock.

'aqua' creates water, mostly used for drinking or cleaning.

'lux' which is a light element spell, it creates a small orb the size of a pea to provide light.

'minuere' a darkness curse, which makes the enemy weak, takes more damage or weakens attack power.

These were the only spells link could get from the chore magic spells at school, except 'minuere' which he found in one of his teacher's books.

Books are a precious commodity, or at least it is in Toula, links village is not doing well financially. since it is located at the borders it ended up being ignored.

Even the books that link and his friends received were made of animal skin, even the library in the village had most of its books made of animal skin or leather.

Other than the taxes that the disgraceful count 'Markis' collects, a gang of bandits have built an encampment in the woods, forcing the villagers to pay another tax, calling it the protection tax.

Money is hard to come by, and when it does it gets taken by both parties leaving the village few coins.

Link heard from one of the kids that a group of bandits came to collect the tax money from his parents. It being the only money left they had, Rao refused to pay which ended up in a fight, his father being beaten and left near death, the house ransacked and rid of all valuables and they even were lustful towards his mother, but stopped themselves after seeing the villagers crowding at the house.

Those events have made the bandit encampment the first on link's 'Kill list'.

Link was weak, he couldn't do much to help out, making him bide his time until he gets his chance.

After a long day of training and leveling what few skills he had, link went back home.

When he entered the little house, his mother was there to greet him.

"Welcome home dear, did you have fun?" she was setting up the table, smiling at him.

"Yes... Mother, you don't have to do that, let me do it."

"Oh how nice, such a good boy. Still, I always wonder why you call me 'mother'. You used to call me mommy and mom back then."

When link was smaller he had to be a convincing toddler, mommy was what he used at first then shifted to mom, but now he started calling her mother. it was not to push her away but because he remembered that someone else already has that name. his first mom, raya.

"Were you playing with Samuel again? you guys are getting along, but why do you not play with the other kids. your teacher told me you ignore them sometimes or even distance yourself" she was worrying about him, link noticed.

"It's because i'm way older than them" he thought to himself "I wish i can just say that and skip these conversations"

"I like Samuel, but the rest are too annoying. I don't like them." said link while doing his best child act.

Suddenly, link heard a hearty laugh.

"HAHA, my little man is already grown up. want to learn a thing or two about hunting from your old man?" The person who suddenly entered with a full bag of meat was Link's father, the hunter.

"That would be awesome, dad" said link with a genuine smile.

After Lisa and Rena joined them, the family got together, talking and laughing. It was a normal scene in their everyday lives, yet to link it never lost its shine. he missed his old family and this was the closest thing he got to one.

In the table, while eating a meal, a family of five was joyfully discussing their day.
