Whoops. I rubbed both arms with my bare hands and spoke before I realized I opened my mouth.
"So we call in Mabel and the troops and we have her clean drach house." That made the most sense, right? "This is ridiculous. Let's do our Hayle thing and just..." I let my hands drop, swiping at the air like we could summon our power and make this all go away.
But Damon's head shake and Mathias's scowl told me I was totally off track.
Surprise, surprise.
"Drach and human hybrids were never meant to be," Damon said. "I'm not sure if Mabel even understands what Mathias is." He met the young half-drach's eyes. "Have you talked to her about it?"
"Let's discuss just how much of everything about us you seem to know," Nanna said in a crisp and professional tone. "And how little has been explained about what you know."
Damon grinned at her. "Miriam, do you have almost a hundred years?" She frowned. "Don't be a smartass, dear."
