I Am Not Her Boyfriend

"That's Claire," Alex said, still confused. "Why would you think she was my girlfriend?"

Dustin raised an eyebrow at him. "Because most of the time when people make other people their phone background it means they think about them a lot. It has romantic implications. Did no one ever tell you that? And she's the only one in those pictures too."

Did that make a difference? It was true that both pictures of Claire were solo shots. 

One was from one of their weekend trips before Ethan came along when she wanted to pose in front of a statue she thought was funny in front of a bait and tackle shop. He liked it because she had been striking a silly pose and had laughter in her eyes. The other was a picture she asked him to take of her holding Daisy to commemorate the cat's adopt-a-versary on Instagram. 

"No, no one told me that. I do think about her a lot though," Alex said simply. "She is my most important person. How does it have romantic implications?"
