Making Permission

Just like what Yu Yan said, the directors have finished with their work for today, so they joined in the small party. Feng Mian was not close with them too, so she mainly just listened in as Yu Yan chatted. It seemed that Yu Yan was determined to make sure that she used this time well.

As an ambitious woman, Yu Yan was someone who pursued her career greatly. She wanted to be at the top at designing world, something that was hard to achieve. Because of that, Yu Yan slowly built her connection and skill while doing her work in this company.

Feng Mian didn't really have that much of a dream, though. She was satisfied as long as she could eat enough for the day and have some savings for emergencies or holidays. Because of that, she just mainly did her work.

"How long will the celebration last?" Feng Mian asked as she picked a nearby cupcake.

Yu Yan tilted her head. "Well, most of us will still be here for a long time. Do you already want to return back?"

"I have something I need to do. Do you think there's still anyone who work right now?"

"Now? I doubt it. What is it?"

Feng Mian smiled bitterly. "I need to make permission to work from home for the next few months. I'm sure that we only need to fill the form and explain our situation, right?"

Hearing that, Yu Yan frowned. She pulled Feng Mian a bit further from the main party and looked at her friend's face closely. "Are you serious?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"I need to take care of my mother, so I need to work from far," Feng Mian reasoned. She couldn't possibly tell other people that it was because of a certain contract husband's demand that she needed to take the leave. It would surely turn the entire office into a flurry of gossip.

Yu Yan's face looked worried. "It's that bad?"

"I just think it's better for me to work from far. That is if I can get permission."

Feng Mian was pretty sure that she would be able to get the permission easily, though. Zhang Liang wouldn't let his employee hinder her at all. If they dared, she was sure that they would get kicked out of the company. Well, she just needed to make sure that she filled the form properly.

"I wish your mother can get well soon."

"Me too."

"Let me ask whether you can get the form or not. You can submit it tomorrow too if you don't have time today."

"Alright. Thank you, Yan'er."

Yu Yan smirked. "That's what friends are for."

With a light step, Yu Yan walked to the nearby director and began to chat. Feng Mian knew that Yu Yan had a lot of friends from the inner circle, so asking for something like that shouldn't be hard.

Before long, Yu Yan returned back with a folder on her hand. She smiled. "Here's the form. The office is closed today, so you can turn it in tomorrow when you come to work. We're going to get busier because the Valentine Project will start soon."

Feng Mian truly didn't want to think about work anymore. Zhang Liang had told her before that they would start the project soon, so she didn't need her friend to remind her again.

"Just message me for work later."

Yu Yan nodded. "Are you sure that they'll accept your reasoning?"

"Don't worry. I got this."

"Alright. If you need anything else, just tell me."

"I will."

Feng Mian kept the folder in her bag. She bid her farewell to Yu Yan before walking out of the hall. There was no need for her to stay here anymore and entertain others. She was not too good at interpersonal relationships, which was one of the reasons why she had it hard to search for a job.

During the interview, she would be nervous.

Heading to the lift, Feng Mian thought about her next activities. For the next few months, she would be staying at home all day. Probably, Zhang Liang would allow her to go out some time in the future, though Feng Mian was not totally sure about it considering how he wanted her to stay at home most of the time.

'At least, I can spend my time painting.'

As she waited, Feng Mian saw Su Han walk out of the bathroom with a messy appearance. She arched her eyebrows at the apparent smell of alcohol from the man.

"Going back so early?" Su Han sneered. "Afraid of trouble, Feng Mian?"

"I already have enough for today, so I wanted to return back early," Feng Mian replied with a smile on her face. "Is there anything I can help?"

"No. Just go home and do your stuff with your sugar daddy."

Feng Mian frowned. She glanced to the back and saw a woman walk out with a similarly messy appearance. The woman flinched upon seeing Feng Mian while Feng Mian's frown creased deeper.

"You should be the one who has to stay careful to not let your wife hear anything."

"What?"

Ding!

Feng Mian didn't explain further as she entered the lift and clicked the closing button. She could see Su Han was pointing at her with anger, but she paid no heed.

Prang!

The last thing she heard as the lift closed was the sound of something breaking.
