"Alice!" Although Alice knew that he had yelled, her name was spoken no louder than the volume of a whisper. "Alice, where are you?"

Alice's ears pricked in attention. She slowly turned her body around, looking out into the distance, hoping to see a sign of the man whose voice she could hear so clearly. However, she wasn't met with anything but empty space.

"I must be dreaming," she muttered to herself, looking down at her hands. Even so, despite her own words, Alice waited to see if Spade would call for her again.

He didn't.
