Why right? Why do I need to forgive this jerk?
Why, I'm just going to get hurt again..?
"Come on, this guy just straight up punched me in the face.. They started it. Well they won't forgive me.."
Sound familar? Well this is a topic I feel most of us struggle with. I struggle with it at a degree I guess.
No, haha. I'm not claiming to be perfect on this matter.. Some people get on my nerves.
Trust me. But what will you gain getting vengeance or retribution on that person who wronged you? In the heat of the moment we want to fight back.
It is a great question. Because turning around and knocking someone out could seem satisfing in the moment.. But.. What would Jesus do?
Jesus said to love our neighbors as our selves. Simple as that. I really don't want to complicate this message.
Anyway, I feel obligated to share with you this message because even though I've had a really hard life.. I have been highly blessed for my belief in God.
Tonight.. I have stayed up late struggling with my own faith. As I pray to God to forgive me today.
I'm pretty tired this late/early morning.. But I know some of you needed to think about this topic. So thanks for your attention.
The reason we need to forgive others is so we can learn to forgive ourselves. Same vise versa. As we forgive ourselves we can gain the self-esteem to forgive others, because its important to love yourself.
Loving our enemies is definitely a difficult task.. But I have personally done it.. Sometimes the thoughts come back to haunt me, but I choose to forget them.
Trust me, if trauma is severe I highly recommend counseling. Psycho-therapy (kind dont like that word by the way) should just be psych-therapy. We aren't psychos.
Well I mean hopefully most us aren't. So, going back to loving your enemies... There is something about being nice that can change a person.
We'll never know what another person has gone through... So let us always be kind. The only one that I truly believe understands us is the Savior, Jesus Christ.
There can be some crazy stuff that has happened to a few of us... Triggers that need to be confronted. Maybe I'm not a counselor, but I can tell you this..
There is always hope. Hope to forgive and hope to forget.
When a bad thought pops in your mind forget it.. When it comes back.. Forget it again.
Forget that person if you have to. Forget the pain. Replace it with the good.
Your happy place.. The new talent you want to discover.. Distract your bad thoughts and redirect your thinking into positivity.
Forgiveness isn't easy, but from my experiences it's worth it. At least to receive the peace I so desire and hopefully you still desire. Keep trekking.
Let your light so shine.. For God is a good judge and any injustice toward you will be handled. We will all have to answer for our unrighteousness.
So? Be kind.
