I hadn't killed in months. Ever since Yuna I've been better and I can't help but to smile all the time. My life really has changed for the better.
"Kookie, I've done some research on a new victim, you should follow up," said Jimin.
"How many times have I told you hyung, I'm not killing anymore," I replied shaking my head.
"Ugh, Jungkook listen to me, just because you met a girl and are happy now does not mean it will last forever. Your urge to kill will always be inside you. You will never be able to stop it. The only way to make that urge go away is the logical thing. You have to kill someone eventually," said Jimin.
"No. I'm done, I wanna change," I said.
I could tell Jimin was losing his patience.
"What's so great about her? Huh? What about me? Don't I matter anymore?" Exclaimed Jimin.
"Of course you still matter Hyung. You're my brother and I obviously still love you. Yuna's just that one thing in my life that'll keep the monster inside at bay. When I'm with her I feel safe and at ease," I replied.
Jimin glared at me and raised a brow. "Hmph," he shook his head. "I just don't get it." He left slamming the door behind him.
I sighed and sat on my sofa in silence. I would've thought Jimin would be happy for me. I mean after all me becoming a killer was never part of the plan.
"Hey Kookie," said Yuna as she came in and joined me on the sofa.
I smiled and brought her into a kiss. "Hey,"
"What's wrong? You look like someone just punched you in the gut," she said worried.
"Nothing, I'm fine. Just stressed I guess. Don't worry about it, how's that big case you've been working on going?" I asked trying to change the subject.
She shrugged. "It's like any other case I've had before. Guy gets arrested and sentenced to 25 years to life for a crime that he supposedly didn't commit. I get hired to keep that from happening. How's that album going?" She asked.
"It's pretty good. We're almost done with it. Then we release it and a couple MV's and then comeback stages and world tour," I sighed. "Will you miss me? When I leave?"
She laughed. "We'll see,"
"Oh come on! Of course you will, why wouldn't you?" I replied.
"You're right, of course I will. But you promise to FaceTime every night before bed, right?" She asked.
"Yeah, of course," I smiled. "Well we have a while before I leave any way so it's fine."
Yuna checked her phone and got up. "Well I gotta go."
"What? You just got here," I replied getting up after her.
"I know and I wish I could stay longer but I've got work early tomorrow. I'll call you later," she gave me a hug and a kiss and left.
I sat back down on my sofa and it was once again quiet and lonely in my empty apartment. I turned the tv on to a news channel. There was breaking news on, the Angel of Death murders continuation. Jimin hyung must be on a rampage. They found our uncle's body, finally. It's been weeks. He must be so decomposed right now. The smell of death tainted the very place Jimin and I once remembered as a happy place, the family home. They seemed to have found at least eight more bodies in the most random places. Jimin's feelings toward my decisions were making him blind and sloppy, he started leaving a trail of bodies behind him, he wasn't even trying to make an effort to dispose of the bodies, I was surprised he hadn't gotten caught yet. I pulled my phone out and called him.
"What do you want?" Said Jimin annoyed.
"I'm watching the news right now, what the hell are you doing Hyung?" I asked. "You're gonna get caught, you need to be careful. If you leave a trail of bodies like that they'll find you."
"Why do you suddenly care about how I kill? You don't wanna kill anymore, you wanna change," replied Jimin in a mocking tone.
"I don't wanna see my brother thrown in prison. Besides it's my name you're dragging in the mud out there, the Angel of Death.
"Again, why do you suddenly care?" Said Jimin. "Just go enjoy your new life with your girlfriend." He hung up.
I sighed as I placed my phone on the coffee table. Oh who am I kidding Jimin hyung's probably right, I can't change. If I really wanted to change I wouldn't care if he dragged my rep through the mud, but I do. I really do. As one of the most infamous serial killers of S. Korea.
I grabbed my phone from the coffee table and called Yuna.
"Hey what's up Kookie?" She said.
"I need to see you, could we maybe go out for some dinner tonight?" I asked.
"Uh, Yeah sure. I'll see you later," she said.
"Yeah," I hung up and grabbed my car keys and went out and got in my car. When I arrived at my destination I parked and went in. I got what I was looking for and went back to my apartment to get ready for dinner. I waited and waited until it was finally a decent time to pick her up.
When I arrived at her apartment she was already waiting for me. She got in my car and we headed for the restaurant.
"So what's so urgent that you needed to see me?" She asked.
"Look, I know we've only been together a few months, six months, you've been there for me all the time and I'm grateful," I started.
Yuna looked at me confused. "A-Are you breaking up with me?"
"What?! No! I-" I couldn't seem to find the words so I silently pulled out a little black box from my jacket pocket and got up from my seat and got on one knee.
Yuna's eyes widened and tears started to form. She covered her mouth in disbelief.
"Yuna Choi, I don't really know how else to say this, but will you make me a very happy man and marry me?" I said opening the box.
The other patrons around us were completely quiet and watching us intently.
"Y-Yes! Yes I will!" She said in between sobs.
I jumped up and smiled hugely. I took the ring out of the box and placed it on her finger. It was a perfect fit. I hugged her tight and gave her a light kiss on the lips.
The people around us were clapping and chattering away.
"You've just made me the happiest man on earth," I said not letting go of her.
"I love you so much!" She said crying in my chest.
"I love you too," I said laughing.
After we finished our dessert I drove Yuna back to her apartment.
"Hey Jungkook, I need to tell you something before I head up," she said.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"I'm pregnant," she said.
Silence. It took me a minute to process. A smile formed across my face. I leaned closer to her and brought her into a kiss. "I love you and I love our child."
She smiled. "Goodnight Kookie."
"Goodnight baby," I replied.
She got out of my car and went into her building. I went back to my apartment.
"Well congratulations little bro, you're marrying her, that's just great," said Jimin as I entered my living room.
"Hyung? What are you doing here?" I asked annoyed.
"I came to see you. I wanted to congratulate the happy couple. My future sister-in-law," said Jimin.
"Well I had to drop her back at her apartment," I replied.
"Wow, you really want that change, huh? But let me put it straight for you, in clear words, you will never change. You will forever remain a monster. You'll never learn what it's like to be normal because you'll never be normal. That urge will never go away and you'll eventually hurt the ones you love," said Jimin. "Goodnight little bro."
Jimin got up and left.
A monster. A emotionless monster who'll eventually hurt the ones I love. Are Yuna and our child safe with me? Will I be able to keep my urges under control? I can't let Jimin be right. I laid down on my sofa and looked silently up at the ceiling. I went back to my days in prison. The man who would have nightmares night after night about that one day, the day I lost all innocence inside me. The bloodied bodies of my dead parents laid in front of me. There they were again, the bloodcurdling screams and cries of my parents as they were being brutally murdered. There was chaos once again in my head, the silence disappeared and now all I could hear was screaming. Now not just of my parents but of my victims and their victims. It was a never ending loop.
