Dealing with Fang's Death

Yun woke up seeing the ceiling of his tent before shouting, "Fang!"

He rose from the ground thinking that he dreamed everything that happened the day before.

The others heard Yun's shout as they rushed to the tent to see if he was alright when they saw Yun back in his armor and they hear, "Where is Fang?"

They now knew that Yun was disillusioned trying to repress what happened yesterday as all their faces turned ugly when Hua stepped forward and says, "Yun, Fang died yesterday. Don't you remember it?"

Yun's world suddenly shattered as he now realized that it wasn't a nightmare he woke up from but he was still living the nightmare as he suddenly felt his legs turn limp while feeling empty.

"Right," says Yun emotionless as his eyes turned dead from his usual clear and lively eyes.

"What happened after I lost consciousness?" asks Yun wanting to know what happened after he severed Zhang Fei's arm.

"Zhang Fei escaped by destroying the bridge with his last strength before escaping east as you predicted. Liu Bei must have abandoned his plan of taking Jiangling and went east to regroup with Guan Yu," says Pang Tong informing Yun about what happened after he had fallen unconscious.

"Where is the body of my son?" asks Yun as he wants to see his son.

"His body is resting in his tent at the moment. We didn't know what to do with the Young Master since you were recovering from your last attack," says Huang Zhong still fuming that Zhang Fei escaped their grasp wanting to kill him personally since Fang was like a grandson to him.

"We should send him to Guangling so Huixiu can say her last farewell before cremating him and laying him to rest with his Ancestors," says Yun as he walks out of his tent.

He walked toward his son's tent entered it and found his body lying on a table. Fang's body and armor were clean as Yun saw no blood on it.

Yun stood before the body wanting to hug his son and try to wake him up as it looked like he was sleeping soundly. Tears begin to fall off Yun's cheeks as he falls to his knees.

"I only had one job," says Yun to himself as he looks at his dead son before saying, "One job and I failed."

Yun punches the ground several times while saying, "How will I be able to look at Diao Chan's eyes if I couldn't even keep our children alive in this turmoil?"

Yun's eyes turn red as he shouts, "I will kill Zhang Fei even if it is the last thing I will do!"

Yun gave a hurtful roar from himself as he was mourning his son's death which everyone in the camp could hear him mourn.

Two days have passed since that day and Yun was sitting on Thunder's back looking more dead than alive as they marched to Jiangling.

Tang Shi was leading the army at the moment while a small army of five thousand men led by Huang Xu retreated to take Fang's body to Guangling to his young wife.

'Now I know what my father never wanted to feel or see,' thinks Yun as he thought of his father who always feared his or his brother's demise on the battlefield.

"It is hard, I know what you are feeling since I went through those feelings every day until I met you and you healed my son," says Huang Zhong riding beside Yun.

"The feeling as if someone has ripped your heart out of your chest making you feel empty. Don't let this feeling take you completely but never cast it away completely and use it to full your anger when you enter the battlefield," says Huang Zhong trying to give Yun advice on how to redirect those feelings to his own advantage.

"We will get that son of the bitch sooner or later and when we do he won't have a fast death, I promise you that," says Huang Zhong as Yun could hear the fury in Huang Zhong's voice.

"You saw him like a grandson, didn't you," says Yun emotionless as Huang Zhong nods.

"I taught him how to wield a bow as I taught Huang Xu before. He was my grandson as he was your son since I spent almost his whole life by his side. Zhang Fei didn't kill just your son but also our Young Master who was for many like a son, grandson, or nephew since they saw him grow up beside them," says Huang Zhong furiously as he is angry with himself for not able to stop that spear.

Huang Zhong wasn't the only one with Dian Wei radiating Qi from himself which almost took the shape of a Demon from the fury he was feeling for letting it happen while he was right beside Fang.

Taishi Ci and Tang Shi were feeling rage as well but didn't show it outwards since they needed to keep a clear head while everyone else was displaying their rage.

They all felt Yun's pain since most of them saw Fang grow up on the training field when Yun announces, "One day we will bring Zhang Fei to justice! But that must wait until we are done with Cao Cao! Once we have dealt with Cao Cao we will deal with Zhang Fei in the most cruel way so everyone will know what happens when they take one of ours!"

"But until that day let us carry this pain in our hearts and reveal it at the right moment!" shouts Yun with life behind those words as his eyes became lively again.

'I will bury this pain for now and open those wound when I stand before Zhang Fei again to ram my sword into his chest to end his life,' thinks Yun as he became more lively taking the reigns of Thunder into his hands again.

Thunder could feel the firm hands on his reigns which indicated that his master had returned from his depression.

'It won't happen again, I swear it upon my life,' thinks Yun with determination in his eyes not letting another child of his die on the battlefield again until he dies.

They arrived at Jiangling and planted Cao Cao's banner on the city walls showing that Cao Cao proclaimed Jiangling.

This would make Cao Cao happy at least for a while as Yun sent a messenger to Cao Cao that he accomplished the objective of taking Jiangling and driving Liu Bei away.

Yun and his army stayed for four days in Jiangling when the messenger returned having an angry expression on his face as he reported to Yun what Cao Cao told him.

"Cao Cao wasn't happy with us taking Jiangling. He wanted us to take Liu Bei's head so he wouldn't be a future problem. He also said that it seems to be Heaven's punishment that the Young Master died by Zhang Fei's hands for going against his orders of killing Liu Bei," says the messenger informing Yun by giving him a short resume of what Cao Cao said leaving the long version out since it would make him only angry to repeat Cao Cao's words.

"He will die soon anyway, don't let it get to your head," says Yun to the messenger while hiding his rage behind a calm expression.

Yun dismissed the messenger so he could rest as Cao Cao would soon arrive at Jiangling since it was the only city that would allow him to station his navy before attacking Sun Quan who was his next objective since the west was his ally at the moment with the south at his flank the only danger.

Yun wasn't going to kill Cao Cao yet. He was waiting for the right moment to boost the morale of Sun Quan and his army. It would make it easier to take over the north with the momentum they will gain from winning against Cao Cao.

Cao Cao arrived four days later, he seemed more calm now that he called half of Jing his own and placing most of his troops around the Han River as well as his ships which were sailing to Jiangling to regroup with Cao Cao.

Yun was sitting on a chair on the wall which was protecting the east as he wanted to look in the direction in which all of his children were at the moment while reminiscing of past decisions.

Cao Ren and Xiahou Yuan approached Yun who was still sitting on his chair when he feels their hands on his shoulders and Cao Ren saying, "I am sorry to hear what happened to your son."

"I am sorry for what happened to your little brother," says Yun sincerely even if he killed Cao Chun.

Yun might have killed him but he did it to spread the rumor of a God roaming the battlefield which helped a lot in driving Cao Ren back the last time.

"He did fighting a God. He should be feeling proud to have died to the hands of a God instead of the hands of a mortal," says Cao Ren seriously as he looked at Yun and continues, "We will get him sooner or later. Also, don't mind my cousins words since he said it in a spur of the moment as he was mourning my brother."

"I will keep that in mind," says Yun seriously as he looked at the distance.

Now that Fang was dead Zheng was the next Patriarch of the Zhao Family after his death. Yun knew that Fang's death hadn't reached Zheng nor Mulan.

If it had reached them Gan Ning would be raging trying to get to Zhang Fei and Liu Bei to take their heads when Yun hears, "I am also here to give you my condolences."

"We shed blood together Xiahou Yuan. I am grateful that you two haven't forgotten it like the others. I will never forget that," says Yun sounding suspicious to Cao Ren and Xiahou Yuan when Yun stood up towering over Cao Ren and Xiahou Yuan before leaving them.

Hope you like it and Happy New Year to you all.
