Zhan under Attack part 1

The next day they continued on their journey when they got stopped by common bandits which Yun killed easily using the sword which is hanging from his belt.

They continued on their way without trouble until they arrived at Zhan the last city they needed to pass to get to Zhending. The city lies in the Bing Province to be a bit more precise in the Leiping Commandery which bordered the Changshan Commandery.

Yun and Zhen Luo arrived at the worst time as it seemed because the city was defending itself from a small army of the Xiongnu that ignored Jinyang and went deeper into the mainland.

Jinyang couldn't send their army thinking that the small group attacking Zhan was a distraction to bait them out so they could attack Jinyang leaving the city to their fate.

"What do we do?" asks Zhen Luo scared since she heard stories of the Xiongnu as a small child and all ended badly for their prisoners.

Yun took a deep breath as he was massaging his temples at the side of his head before stopping and he says, "We can't help them. If I were to do so I would put us at a bigger risk than we already are."

"What do you mean? We can't leave them to their fate. They will kill the men and rape the women who will later become slaves to them. We can't let that happen," says Zhen Luo now feeling pity for the city of Zhan since Yun wanted to abandon them to their fate.

Yun looked at the state of the city which seemed to only have around a thousand soldiers, which are trained, patrolling the walls of the city day and night while training some militia to help them defend the city.

The only thing he didn't see was a commander or a person that could lead them. He estimated that around five thousand Xiongnu came to raid the city of Zhan making it a difficult battle if they engage the enemy outside the city.

"Even I can't create wonders out of nowhere. We might be able to slip away easily but if I were to help them I would need to do it in two days," says Yun seriously making Zhen Luo look at him confused.

"We can't wait for two days. Why aren't you helping them now?" asks Zhen Luo confused as Yun walked towards their carriage.

"The night in two days will have no moon. I will be able to hide myself in its darkness and kill the Tribal Leaders of the Xiongnu that are attacking Zhan but for that to happen they will need to survive two days which won't be easy since they are outnumbered five-to-one," says Yun as he opened a secret compartment which was hiding his armor and spear.

He hadn't shown all of his tricks to Zhen Luo like for example his Storage Ring which Zhen Luo thought to be a normal ring that Yun was wearing because he liked it a lot.

"If the city survives for two days I will end this little attack on my own but if they can't defend themselves for those two days," says Yun giving Zhen Luo hope in the beginning before saying in a grim tone, "I will have to force you to forget the idea of helping them and flee with me the city."

Zhen Luo agreed to the condition Yun gave her as they stayed near the east gate so they could flee the moment the Xiongnu breached the gates. But it didn't happen to make them stay a day longer as Yun was looking after the injured since he was disguised as a doctor.

'There are too many injured people. I don't think they will make it if the Xiongnu attack today again,' thinks Yun while treating a person that has lost his left hand.

Yun sighed seeing the scene making him feel a bit guilty as he began to treat the next person which surprised him since it was a young girl with bruises on her palms.

"How did you get those?" asks Yun curious to find out since the girl seemed to be around four or five years old.

"Helping the adults by throwing small rocks at the enemy," says the girl when Yun's hand stretches out towards her.

She closed her eyes thinking Yun wanted to punish her for doing something so foolish when she only feels Yun's hand on her head petting it while saying, "You are quite brave for a little girl. Where are your parents?"

She pointed at the corpse of a man before saying, "My dad died yesterday in battle and I don't know my mom. Dad usually told me stories about her but I never met her."

Yun felt sorry for the girl as he finished treating her before he asks, "Are you scared of what could happen if the Xiongnu breach the gates?"

"Yes, I heard from my dad that they would do awful things to us," says the girl as Yun closed his eyes before taking a deep breath trying to keep a cold mind.

But it didn't work this time as he stood up and took the girl which was an orphan with him while saying, "Have you ever heard of the Mighty General Zhao that lives in Puyang?"

"I don't think so, mister," says the girl as she looked at Yun confused who wasn't surprised by her reaction.

"Well, what if said General would want to make you his student and daughter? Would you want to take this chance or would you rather stay here and live your life without anyone to rely on?" asks Yun looking at the girl with some warmth in his eyes trying to persuade the girl to become his student and daughter since her future would be grim as an orphan without anyone to rely on.

The girl seemed to not realize in which situation she was in, making Yun only smile at her pure innocence. This made her quite a fine disciple and daughter if she could keep her innocence till she becomes older.

"My name is Zhao Yun, I am known as the General Who Pacified the East. It was a title that I received when I was younger. Back then you weren't even born yet. Now the people call me the God of War, but I don't really see myself as such. Many other people deserve that title more than me," says Yun humbly about his titles since anyone could have earned them with the same training he went through by the gods.

Yun stretches his hand out towards the girl and says, "If you take this hand you will become my student and daughter, and I will do everything in my power to keep you safe until you reach adulthood. What do you say, girl?"

The girl took his hand and Yun smiled at her before asking, "What is your name?"

"Just Rin, we didn't have a family name like the other families," says Rin feeling a bit ashamed since she didn't have a family name as Yun looked at Rin closer.

She has messy black hair which wasn't taken care of for several years, black eyes, and her clothes were messy as well making Yun think that her father was trying his best to survive in this world by feeding her and himself since she didn't look skinny but rather normal maybe a bit thin but in the normal department compared to other poor families.

"Well, from today on you are Zhao Rin so don't feel ashamed any longer," says Yun as he guides her away.

She was happy and feeling a bit of pride now that she had a family name that she could call her own before they arrived at the carriage where Zhen Luo was waiting for him.

She saw Yun approach with the girl and asks curiously, "Who is she?"

"A brave girl that I want to take in as my student and daughter. Rin, say hello to your mother," says Yun seriously as Rin gives a bow to Zhen Luo who stopped her.

Yun hands Rin over to Zhen Luo before opening the hidden compartment and taking his armor and spear out of it.

He puts them on when Zhen Luo says, "Didn't you say that it was too dangerous to show yourself."

"I changed my mind," says Yun making a smile appear on Zhen Luo's face.

Yun jumps onto Thunder's back while Shadow landed on his shoulder when he looks at Zhen Luo and the girl before saying, "I will be back before the sun goes down. We will need to move right away when I arrive since we will attract too much-unwanted attention."

"I understand, just be careful out there," says Zhen Luo a bit worried since Yun was going to face an army on his own.

Thunder began to move to the west gate making everyone see Yun clad in black armor decorated with Dragons all over it. They could feel an aura coming from him which made them all know that he was someone that saw more than one battlefield.

The people still didn't know who he was which made him feel calm as he passed the west gate seeing the Xiongnu camp to the northwest of the gate when Yun hears, 'Did the girl remind you of your late wife? Is that why you changed your mind and took her in?'

'Maybe,' says Yun to Ysmrgra as his grip on his spear got tighter.

Shadow flew into the sky and gave a warcry from herself as Thunder began to gallop towards the enemy while Yun began to take a deep breath before his Qi flared up.

The enemy could see him approach as Yun was covered in wild blue Qi. The Xiongnu began to laugh seeing only one man approaching them thinking that Yun had a death wish for charging in alone.

They prepared a small group of people to deal with Yun and Thunder when suddenly Shadow attacked one of them with her talons ripping an arm from one of the Xiongnu when Yun pointed his spear at the group standing in his way.

"It seems you have lost your fear since Gongsun Zan died. Let me rekindle that fear again," says Yun coldly as Thunder crashed into the enemy group surprising them as their weapon couldn't leave a mark on the horse's skin that just trampled over them.

Yun didn't care as he pierces two of the Xiongnu Warriors with his spear before using his right foot to get rid of the corpses hanging on his spear so he could continue with his attack.

Hope you like it.
