Gamble of Life and Death

I appeared in the central command and saw the Supreme Commander and others looking at the screen, which had footage of a lot of lakes.

"Landen Lakefield," I said, and Supreme Commander nodded.

Her expressions were serious but not as serious as they wouldn't have been if I had told her what the old snake had said to me last time. 

I had not told anyone, not even Marina or any Grand Lords, as there was not much they could do other than worry.

Telling them would have made them keep me Pyramid, and I don't want that; only I could deal with the old snake effectively.

They could not deal with it, even with the measures I have put inside them, as the measures would fail if the old snake noticed what they were, and seeing how intelligent this bastard is, it wouldn't take long to notice them.

"I am going," I said.
