That Incident

Mr. Liu arrived just few minutes after the two women left. Both of his son knew he would look for their mother so the first thing they had to say was that she went out to eat with Han Meixiu. He simply nodded.

"Big Zi, do you have an idea how you were saved?"

Liu Zilong recalled some fragments of his memories before he passed out. He tried to fought at first since the people chasing them was coming one by one. But when from another side a group of youth came, he knew it would be impossible to continue fighting head on. He must escape and hide.

He ran and while he was being chased, shots could be heard not far away from him. He went back on his track when he encountered another group and looked for a place to hide. He barely hid himself when the exchange of gunshots happened again thus a shot grazed his left shoulder.

He remembered he hissed from it and another shot came directly hitting his shoulder which was already bleeding. He stumbled backward as he lost his balance due to the impact. Another shot came, this time it hit his hip on that same left side.

He was loosing blood faster than normal and his vision was getting unfocused. He tried to sink on the wall as the footsteps got closer. But he knew it was pointless as he would be exposed sooner or later. His hiding place wasn't really a good one to begin with.

He felt his body moved as he was about to close his eyes and resign to his fate.

He wanted to see who was that person but his eyesight was blocked. As he felt that the other person wasn't someone that would harm him, he cooperated and he mustered all his strength despite the unbearable pain he's experiencing. They didn't walk that far before he totally lost it.

The next time he woke up, he's already in the hospital and his mom was silently sitting beside him.

There was a long silence after Liu Zilong told his story.

"Two different people probably saved you. And those bullets weren't ordinary." Mr. Liu said.

Those statements piqued the interest of the two Young Masters of the Liu Family.

The two women decided to eat within the hospital's vicinity. They were now sitting facing each other but their line of sight were both in the crowded area where reporters gather and interviewing some people.

"Yesterday must have been really a big incident." Han Meixiu said.

"Indeed. I'm just glad you were both okay." Madam Liu answered as she took a piece of apple from her fruit platter. "Did you rest well?" She asked the young woman gently. Her husband told her that maybe she was exhausted that's why she was carried by Liu Zijian last night.

"I did, Mommy Yi. It was thanks to Zijian..." She didn't know but she blushed a little when she mentioned his name. It wasn't the case when she did it yesterday but now, for some unknown reason she felt excessively reserved.

When Madam Liu sensed her shyness, a tender smile broke out on her face.

"I'm glad he's progressing admirably. That kid, was home schooled that's why his social interactions aren't really good. But I think he's really treating you exceptionally well."

Han Meixiu was surprised. She didn't know Liu Zijian was home schooled. But then again, there's still a lot she didn't know about him.

"Was he sick when he was young?"

"No. But I was. He wanted to accompany me during my recovery. He was still so young but no one was able to change his decision when he wanted to stay by my side." Madam Liu answered while reminiscing. There was warm smile on her face as she recalled those days.

She personally didn't witness how Liu Zijian stubbornly fought his stance since she was sleeping most of the time . It was her husband who told her later on why Little Zi was always at home.

He was most of the time silently sitting on her bedside while reading. From time to time he would play with Liu Zilong if the latter was around. He would be like the shadow of his older brother during those times and together they would stay in the room. Even though they were quite noisy at times Mr. Liu didn't mind as he needed those lively little voices to reach out their mother who was in and out of consciousness.

Madam Liu's recovery wasn't easy. It was long and grueling. There were times that she would wake up and scream. It would startle Little Zi at first but he never cried. During early days, he would seek any adult around but as he grew a little order, he became competent especially if his father wasn't around.

By the time she got better they wanted to enroll him in a regular school but Little Zi was clearly disinterested attending. Thus they continued his homeschooling until he could be accepted as a university student. It was also the time he was given his two personal assistant, the Ye brothers.

Madam Liu's train of memories was stopped when she heard a commotion from the crowd where they were looking at earlier.

"Oh, the people are getting out of control." Han Meixiu said.

"We should go back."

"But Mommy Yi, you didn't finish your food yet."

"It's fine. We should keep moving before it get worse."

While walking out they heard some of the people's conversation.

"Do you think it's really true?" A middle-aged lady asked other women around her while they continued to walk away from the scene.

"Maybe. But why did the authorities conceal it? It's about public safety!"

"They must already know that the gang fight will happen but they didn't give any warning!"

"True! So many people died, and they still want to keep us from the dark."

"But what if the man was lying and just wanted to create a disturbance?" One of them thought otherwise instead of agreeing from the rest of them.

"I don't think so. He must have lost someone important on that incident," one of the women refuted.

Both Madam Liu and Han Meixiu exchanged glances after the group of women passed through them still discussing what they witnessed and their own conclusions.

As they walked towards the elevator, both of their minds were busy contemplating what they just heard.
