(Vote) (Round 2) New name for Mahn Li's avatar

Hi guys,

So, round 1 is over. I've receive almost 400 suggestions for the name which our protagonist will choose for his (sort of) alter ego in the virtual world.

For this second round, I have picked 5 names which I liked the most from the readers' suggestions, as well as 1 (one) name I made inspired by various other suggestions.

Here's how were' gonna do it: you guys vote with your likes.

In the comment section, I will post the 6 names using my alt account ImAlsoBloo. Each name is written in one comment. You simply like the name you think is the coolest and most appropriate. The vote will end on Tuesday.

Remember: Vote by liking the names posted by ImAlsoBloo. Other comments don't count.

Below are the chosen names:

"Shade Stormburst" by rg1400

Explanation: "Shade" as he was an assassin, "Storm" being characteristic of Mage and "Burst" as guns are always fired in bursts of 3,5,6 and many more.

Author's thought: It's okay, I guess. Although Shade is a little subdued, and not really in line with the image I have of the MC (i.e. he will not fight in the shadow), and Stormburst sound a little awkward. Still, it's the most liked name, so here it is.

"Wraith Roulette" by NewAltair

Explanation: Wraith because he reincarnated and is looking for vengeance. Roulette because it can play as either being Russian roulette or in general being dependent on luck. Influencing people into believing he's just lucky instead of having access to more information and planning out things well in advance.

Author's thought: It's alright. Though Wraith will be a kind of undead enemy, so I'm not too fond of naming the protagonist after one.

"Crimson Tempest" by MartialRose

Explanation: It's more in line with his class as a crimson mage. Plus he can go by the nickname Crit(short for critical hit)

Author's thought: Eh. A bit generic, but it's pretty well-liked, so here it is. The shortened form ("Crit") will be out of place with the game mechanics. Also with this name, I've filled the quota of names with "crimson", "red", "scarlet" or any variation thereof.

"Merlin the Marksman"

Original version: "Merlin the cowboy" by diab2022

Explanation: None

Author's thought: Self-explanatory and doesn't take itself too seriously. I changed "cowboy" to "Marksman" as the word "cowboy" itself doesn't mean someone using a gun. It only means a person who, well, herd cows.

"Cambiel Spurcius" by Kothari

Explanation: Cambiel is the angel of Magic. Spurcius is Latin for unrivaled. So essentially it means Cambiel the Unrivaled. Or flip it Spurcius Cambiel, which is The Unrivaled Cambiel

Author's thought: Sounds alright. Also, a little Googling with spurcius revealed that it is also a comparative form of spurce, which means dirty, foul or morally polluted. Which isn't entirely a bad thing for our protagonist :)

And, the final suggestion made by the author imself:

"Gunnar Stormbringer" by ImBloo

Explanation:

Gunnar because:

- It is a (still pretty popular) male first name of Nordic origin. Means Warrior /Fighter /Soldier/ Attacker. Not out of place in a fantasy game.

- Also, a reference to King Gunnar/ Gunther, a famous king in medieval literature. Mahn Li aims to be a guild leader, so the name reflects his ambition.

- I swear there was another really good reason for picking this name, but it slipped my mind. Oh well.

Stormbringer because:

- It promises large-scale destruction and mayhem. (Also: Bulletstorm, anyone?)

- Just look at the cover! By the way, it was the art for the D&D character class Arcane Gunslinger. You can see the full pic here: https://www.dandwiki.com/w/images/7/74/Arcane_Gunslinger.jpg

- It incorporates many of the elements in various suggestions: Storm/ Rain/ Tempest/ Thunder/ Destruction/ etc

- It's also a name for a magical sword, a role-playing game and a fantasy video game (These ones are purely coincidental)

Note: The first name and surname was also proposed by different people (who had the same idea as me)

- The surname Stormbringer was proposed by AsurElthrai (Jace Stormbringer)

- The first name Gunther was suggested by someone whose comment I couldn't find anymore.

So, the name Manco the FaceWrecker will be replaced by: Gunnar Stormbringer (or just Gunnar for short).

Our MC will assume this new name at a certain point in the future. For now, he will still be using the name Manco.
