The One I Like Is You

Kang Jun and Kang Mingyu spent the rest of their dinner frowning and in silence. When it was finally time to leave, they collectively let out a sigh of relief and everyone walked towards Hotel Helios.

Upon arrival, Elder Kang had wanted to visit Kang Jun's room but the man adamantly refused, saying that he believed that the elder would put cameras in it. Not being able to deny it, Elder Kang was forced to leave accompanied by Secretary Rong.

That left Rong Yue Wan awkwardly standing by Kang Jun's side.

At first, the girl wasn't sure what to do. She wanted to spend more time with Kang Jun but he didn't seem interested. When he finally turned towards the elevator, Rong Yue Wan pulled on his arm.

Kang Jun turned to look at her with an annoyance that Rong Yue Wan could feel in her bones, but she didn't back off. Instead, she used her free hand to pull out a paper from her bag.

Rong Yue Wan passed it to Kang Jun.

"What's this?" Kang Jun asked as he ripped his arm out of her embrace. He then brushed off his sleeve as if something dirty had touched him.

Rong Yue Wan noticed the action, and despite being hurt by the gesture, the woman kept her composure and smiled softly.

"Grandfather told me that you wanted to meet with Elder Qiao. But because of what happened with Lan Lan, he's in a really bad mood, and I'll bet that he'll refuse to see you."

Rong Yue Wan paused for suspense, but Kang Jun though she was done so he began to walk away. Seeing this, she ran back to his side, stopping him from making another move.

"So, this," She said tapping the paper in Kang Jun's hands. "Is how you'll get to meet him."

She paused for another second, but, remembering what had happened a second ago, she forced herself to continue to speak. "It's his whole schedule for the next three months. Since Elder Qiao is very anal about his schedule, it most likely won't change but if it does, I can inform you."

After finishing her sentence, Rong Yue Wan waited for Kang Jun to answer something along the lines of "let me give you my number", or "let's discuss this again." but instead all she got was simply,

"I understand."

Kang Jun left to enter the elevator with Kang Mingyu, leaving the girl confused and speechless. but thinking back at it, she didn't think it was such a bad thing. She took Kang Jun's 'I understand' as, 'you can ask grandfather for my number' and so, that was what she did.

Rong Yue Wan smiled at herself as she walked out of Hotel Helios.

Meanwhile, Kang Jun and Kang Mingyu had reached their floor.

Excitedly, Kang Mingyu rushed out of the elevator like a child high on sugar, and he didn't stop until he arrived at their door. Once there, he began to jump up and down as he waited for Kang Jun. Seeing that Kang Jun was taking his sweet time, Kang Mingyu began to glare at him.

"Hurry!" the boy exclaimed, causing Kang Jun to smirk.

He was just trying to tease the boy, but the seriousness in his expression showed that he didn't appreciate it. Kang Jun rolled his eyes.

It wasn't like the girl inside the room would disappear out of thin air!

Entering the room, Kang Jun looked around for Lu AnLing. Seeing as she didn't seem to be there, he immediately frowned. But once he approached his bed, he saw the girl lying down in a bundle on his bed reading messages on her phone.

Once she heard the familiar footsteps, she bolted up from the bed and then smiled at the two.

Kang Mingyu came running and then crawled onto the bed before making his way into her arms.

Knowing that he was going to be separated from her for a long period of time the boy clung tightly to Lu AnLing's chest. She didn't quite understand why, but feeling the boy's warmth sink into her, she couldn't help herself from holding him back just as desperately.

Feeling his love being reciprocated, the boy quickly dozed off.

"Sorry for making you wait." Kang Jun said.

"No it's all good…" then she remembered the lines the man had texted her way back when and smirked, "What did you once say… I would wait forever for you?"

Then she began to giggle.

Kang Jun's heart almost skipped a beat hearing those words. Even if she was just joking around, it made his aura warm.

The man found the girl strange. She was much happier than she had been when he left and it wasn't that he was complaining but in the span of two hours, what had made her change so much?

Little did he knew the thoughts traveling through the young woman's mind were more complicated than he could ever understand. She was thinking about so many things. Things that made her heart wrench in pain but in the end, Lu AnLing couldn't deny her happiness from finding a lead.

It gave her a reason for being alive.

Suddenly, Lu AnLing's phone began to buzz. Still holding onto Kang Mingyu she carefully pressed on her phone screen.

LoverBoyMs: [Come on, why are you ask stupid questions?! You know me. Anything you need, I'll make it happen.]

The girls face changed from confusion to happiness in a matter of seconds.

Kang Jun looked at the girl fight back a smile. Deep inside, Kang Jun began to feel strange. It was an almost inexplicable feeling; a mix of both anger and helplessness.

'What was this feeling?' Kang Jun wondered… Though he couldn't pinpoint it. He'd never felt that way once his whole life. The foreign feeling quickly brought darkness to his features. Thank god he hadn't seen the actual message or else killing intent might have consumed the room.

Feeling a tinge of coldness, Lu AnLing looked up from her phone to see the sullen-faced man at the bedside. She began to frown.

"What's wrong?"

Kang Jun's expression didn't change.

"It's nothing."

His reply didn't match his face.

Lu AnLing began to worry. She looked at his darkened face and thought about how it had started. She had just been on her phone texting and then he suddenly just… changed…

It didn't take long for an answer to appear in Lu AnLing's mind.

Was he, perhaps, jealous?

She didn't dare vocalize her thought.

Suddenly another message came in.

'Who is that?' Kang Jun wanted to ask but he didn't. He just stared at her. Feeling the man's cold stare penetrating her body, Lu AnLing lifted her chin in order to look him in the eyes.

"What time did you get back yesterday?"

Kang Jun's face paled. He didn't know what to answer, so instead, he answered her with a question, "Do you remember what happened yesterday?"

Now it was her turn to pale.

She was an idiot. She was so nervous under the man's stare that she just blurted anything that came to mind. She had worried that yesterday wasn't a dream and now Kang Jun had just confirmed it.

But wouldn't that mean she attacked him?!

She dared not continue thinking about it.

"N-no." Lu AnLing stuttered.

Watching her reaction, there was no way that Kang Jun believed her. Thinking about what happened yesterday he felt his body react. He needed to take a cold shower.

Suddenly, Lu AnLing's phone buzzed again and the shower was no longer needed.

The room fell quiet.

The only thing Lu AnLing could hear was Kang Mingyu's breathing and the beating of her own heart. It made her breath quicken and her palms sweat.

Something had to be said… but what? She thought until words escaped her mouth.

"Who was the woman from this morning?" As she spoke those words her heart beat became faster and faster and her tone was one she could barely recognize but she didn't know why.

What was wrong with her today? Why was she trying to shoot herself in the foot?! A part of her screamed but another was patting herself on the back. She needed to follow up on the lead. She needed to know who the woman was.

"She's my ex-fiancee."

Ex-fiancee…?

For some reason, she had expected Kang Jun to be those types of cold men that didn't have any past relationships. The thought of him being close to another woman, even if it was once upon a time, made Lu AnLing's heart sink.

"Does she have a name?" Lu AnLing's voice was low.

"Rong Yue Wan" The girl's voice sounded slightly annoyed to Kang Jun's ears so he answered her without delay. "Why are you curious?"

Lu AnLing no longer looked at Kang Jun in the face but she could imagine his face full of enjoyment, just as his voice was. He was happy to hear such words, full of complex meaning, coming from the girl's mouth.

"Don't get the wrong idea, I just wanted to know why a woman was visiting you early in the morning."

Lu AnLing's voice was stiff. She sounded like a jealous wife and she didn't notice until the words had already been said.

"I didn't mean it like that!" the girl almost jumped up and screamed, but she had to control herself with the boy nestled on her chest.

Smirking, Kang Jun sat down on the bed and approached her slightly.

"Then how did you mean it?"

The man's voice sounded seductive to the girl's ear and she couldn't help but slightly blush. Lu AnLing could feel the distance between the two shortening but she still refused to look at him.

"I-I read some news saying that you're getting engaged soon." She said, trying her hardest not to stutter.

Hearing this, Kang Jun laughed. "Are you jealous?"

Instantly, Lu AnLing's face turned as black as the bottom of a burnt pot.

How dare this man… She had not asked him that question before in order to give him face but he didn't have the courtesy to do the same for her?!

Angrily, Lu AnLing answered, "Why would I be? You're my landlord."

Despite answering quickly, her voice was unconvincing and slightly quivering.

"Don't worry." Hearing this, Lu AnLing looked up to meet Kang Jun's gaze."I won't be engaged to or marry anyone…" 'except you.' his clear eyes communicated the rest of his sentence. They exposed feelings that Lu AnLing understood and knew well but she didn't want to see it so she looked away.

"Do you want to know why?"

'No!' She wanted to say but she couldn't bring herself to utter it.

"I only like you."

"W-what?" Lu AnLing couldn't help but stutter.

"The one I like is you."

Kang Jun had no time to beat around the bush. He needed to make things clear to her with words or else, he knew she would keep pretending she didn't understand.

Hearing such a straightforward confession, Lu AnLing was frozen.
