The Missing Necklace

"Brother bought that necklace for me! You borrowed it without asking, and you didn't even apologize when you lost it! And yesterday when brother asked you, you said I was careless and lost it." Though she was still smiling it looked pitiful as Nicole aired out her grievance.

Still, as if she was embarrassed by what Veronica had said, her smile was still shy and sweet. It even contained a hint of pandering like it used to.

These emotions in fact weren't a lie.

Nicole had felt this conversation was strangely familiar for some reason then she remembered, she had had this conversation with Veronica before. The reason she remembered this conversation in particular was because it was very special; it was the first time she had a conflict with her sister.

Last time she was also upset that Veronica had lost the necklace that her brother had specially prepared for her and she had blamed her for it causing her brother to be disappointed in her.

Because of this, she didn't talk to her sister the whole car ride and audition until her sister said the exact same thing, minus the pushing her down part.

Nicole was scared of disappointing her parents in addition to her brother so she gave in to her sister.

The truth was her sister actually hadn't lost the necklace. Veronica had hidden the necklace because she didn't want to give it back to Nicole.

Later when Veronica wore it to one of her award ceremonies she claimed she had just found it and thought it suited what she was wearing that night more than her initial jewelry so decided to put it on.

But how could there be such a coincidence?

Still Nicole didn't suspect her at all, Nicole just tried to ask for it back but Veronica had already been photographed in it.

Since it was a distinct piece of jewelry she would be seen as a copycat or someone who can't afford her own jewelry and has to borrow one.

In the end, Nicole never got the necklace back.

The necklace was one of a kind. Her brother had personally designed it and had it commissioned so it garnered a lot of attention becoming a legend. But the legend had become Veronica's instead of Nicole's.

As Nicole remembered this she decided she would go get her necklace back when they got home but she wouldn't alert her sister. Let her think she still has it, so on the day of her event let's see what she will wear.

On that day Veronica had especially worn a plain and simple dress to highlight the necklace. Without it, Veronica's outfit would have looked too plain for the star of the event.

Now should she try the same thing again, he he, that would truly be an interesting sight.

A dark glint flashed in Nicole's eyes as she thought up to this point but it quickly passed and regained its pitiful light as she continued to stare at her sister.
