"Honey we have a beautiful baby boy!"
"Hahaha, it's a boy! I Portgas D. Marcus finally have a son!"
"Awwh honey, is that a tear I see trickling down your face?"
"Tear? Who me? I think you giving birth took too much out of you, you're seeing things!"
"Marcus, it's not just Mira, I see your tears as well."
"Walter, you're meant to be my right hand, whose side are you on?!"
"Mira's, definitely Mira's!"
"Snort! What's the world come to when both your wife and best friend team up to bully you. At least I have my son, you'll never bully me will you?!"
As Lucas was listening to the conversation he was instantly left shocked.
[Portgas D. Marcus? I've never heard of him, but he should be some how related to Ace's Mother. Does that mean I'm somehow related to Portgas D. Ace?]
As Orion was gathering his thoughts he felt something prickly rubbing against his face. As he opened his eyes he saw what he could only assume was the face of his father smushed against his own.
He wanted to tell the man to stop but due to his underdeveloped vocal chords it sounded like the screams of an ordinary baby.
"Hahaha. Listen to the pipes on him. That's the voice of the one who will one day change the world as we know it."
"You got all that from the screams of a baby?"
"Mira, my dear sweet Mira. When you heard the screams of a baby, I heard the sound of voice of a warrior vocalising his aspirations."
Hearing his waffling everyone in the room could only roll their eyes helplessly. Mira ignored her husbands rubbish as she took Orion from him.
She looked down at the baby with loving eyes as she admired all his adorable features.
He had mixed-race skin and only a couple of strands of hair on his head. He had pitch black eyes that sparkled with intelligence. As she looked in to his eyes she felt as if she was looking up at the night sky, plain yet beautiful. To top it off, he had sword like eye brows and long lashes that would make most girls jealous.
As he was finally taken from his rubbish talking father, he finally got to see his mother.
She was a beautiful black woman with long black hair and big brown eyes that shone with a tint of gold. She looked no older than 30.
As he was pulled into her embrace he felt himself relax automatically, as if her aura alone was enough to soothe him.
Seeing him stop screaming and relax into his mother's embrace, Walter smiled as he commented.
"I guess your boy's a real Mommy's boy."
Surprisingly Marcus didn't deny it, instead he nodded with a smile.
"So have you guys decided on a name yet?"
Hearing his question, Marcus nodded at his wife, who said.
"Portgas D. Orion!"
Walter nodded his head in appreciation.
"Good name."
Orion opened his eyes in surprise.
"Orion? It seems my name carried over as well."
As he opened his eyes he finally got to see the other two men in the room. The one beside him and his mother was an ordinary looking man with shoulder length strawberry blonde hair, silver eyes and a short beard but his most distinguishing feature was his sword like eyebrows. He looked as if he was in his 40's. Despite him looking so ordinary he had an almost otherworldly aura almost as if he had fused with nature.
[He does look a lot like Portgas D. Rouge, he must be my father.]
He then turned to look at the other man. He was a towering man standing at 7", with dark brown eyes, thick eyebrows that curled upwards. He had black hair with grey streaks, which showed his age. Even though his face was completely still, and almost emotionless Orion could still see a gentle warmth in the man's eyes. His aura was the complete opposite to his father's. If Marcus' was subtle and close to nature than Walter's was powerful and overbearing but despite it being so tyrannical Orion didn't feel pressure from it, instead he felt protected.
But what caught Orion by surprise wasn't his aura but his looks. He looked identical to Gol D. Roger only older and no facial hair.
As he was sizing up the 2 men the 2 men were watching him too.
"Marcus, you have a good son."
Marcus nodded as he agreed. He saw the way the Orion looked at both of them as if he was studying them with intelligence.
"We both do!"
As Marcus said that Orion saw the corners of Walter's mouth raise into a rare but gentle smile.
As they spoke Mira fell asleep with Orion in her arms. Watching that put a gentle and loving smile on Marcus' face.
"By the way how's Roger doing, have you heard back from him recently?"
Hearing that name brought a frown to Walter's face.
"He's still causing a storm in the New World, he says he's close to finding it."
"That's a good thing, why are you frowning? You should be proud, your little brother may well end up being the king of the pirates."
"First of all, that idiot is terminally ill, he only has 2 years left at most, he shouldn't be out risking his life like that in his current condition but most importantly, even if he does find it, that seat isn't his to sit on, if he does sit on it, it'll only cause more havoc in the world. The one who should be sat on that seat is you and you know it!"
Hearing his words Marcus smiled lightly as he replied.
"He's fighting so hard because of the time he has left not in spite of it. If he was to return home and live out the rest of his life when he hasn't achieved his goals, he'd die feeling like a quitter and for people like us that'd be the worst way to go. As for me sitting on that seat…
Like I told him before, I'm not interested in sitting on a seat if I have to use "that" as it's not mine."
"Haha you know most people laugh at what you just said. A pirate who doesn't want to take something that doesn't belong to him.
And for the record just because it didn't belong to you originally, doesn't mean that it's not yours to use. If you went and took it, no one would think any less of you."
"Others may not but I definitely would, I still have my pride. Our ancestors cut the strings of destiny that were guiding them back then, and ended up being abandoned by the heavens so by using "that" to attempt to take back what's rightfully ours is like bowing our heads and admitting that we were wrong."
Walter knew what he'd say but could only sigh helplessly as he hoped his answer would change.
"If we're able to sit on that seat eventually, then I want to do it with nothing but my sword in my hand and my nakama watching my back.
Gol D. Walter, what do you say, the next time we set out to sea, will you stand by me as I fight for the throne, as I fight for the freedom we rightfully deserve, as I fight to be the true king of the pirates?!"
As he said that he stretched his fist out in front of him pointing it at his partner in crime.
Walter has heard that speech repeatedly but every time he does, it makes his blood boil as if he's hearing it for the first time.
He raised his fist to meet Marcus'. As they met Walter replied.
"I will always stand by you Captain!"
